Today's helpful hint:

When reconsidering one's dictum, the use of two mirrors facilitates matters greatly.

Grand papa and Nana Grace (as DC - dear canine, in internet lingo - Morgan calls them) must be up and about already!

Here's a blatant plug:

The father and step-mother of DR Jay and myself are visiting with him prior to embarking on a two-week Panama Canal cruise, arranged by yours truly.  For though arts administration pays the bills, DP John and I have a sideline business as cruise travel agents.  We love cruising!  (Watch it, peanut gallery!)

So if any of you are even thinking about taking to the high seas (for some romance, with or without Dottie Day), feel free to let me know.  I would love to help make those dreams a reality.

And now, back to our show.....

ASK BK

Wow!  Here it is the day to ask BK a question and I can't think of one.  So I guess my question is-

What do you say when you can't think of a single question?

You say, "Does anyone still wear a hat?"

Ok, I think I have had enough coffee this morning that my mind is beginning to work a bit, so.....

My BK question:

When you were in your hey day of working in films and television were you ever recognized on the street by someone who had seen you in a program or movie. If so did they ask for your autograph? And what shows/movies were you recognized from? Please go into explicit detail. Thank you.

ASK BK DAY!  Okay, I will.

Let's say that you could work with Miss Barbara Harris (time machine or real time), what projects would you offer her on stage, screen and recording?
(Would you consider her for a film of BENJAMIN KRITZER?)

Oh, I suppose if it were a few years ago, Miss Harris would not be uninteresting as Minnie Kritzer.  I would love to have done an album with Miss Harris.  Even though I hear she can be difficult, I have this feeling we would have had a grand time.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....my question for ASKBK day (with the exception of ROSEMARY'S BABY talked about last week) - which film for you was a perfect picturization of a book?  ....looked like you imagined it would....or was cast perfectly?

And of course....the opposite.....

To Kill a Mockingbird.  But there is no book to film adaptation better than Rosemary's Baby.  There have been so many awful adaptations I can't even think of the worst.

For ASK BK DAY:

Did you ever go through a "video/computer game" phase?

Not in the sense that you're talking about, no.  I was quite fond of Frogger but only played it at Hef's mansion every week, in the days when I was on the "A" list.  And I play Free Cell when I need to relax, but that's about it.  I've never had my hands on a Playstation - don't even know how it works.  My darling daughter had Atari and I'm sure we must have played something on it, but I can't remember.

Question for BK: Would winning a Grammy Award for one of your CDs mean anything to you, or does your knowledge of how the business of awards operates negate any sense of accomplishment winning one might give you?

Winning something is always fun, but having been beat out for a Grammy already, it didn't bother me at all.  Grammy, like anything else, is based on name recognition - if a legendary rock producer somehow produced a cast album, he will win.  End of story.  If some awful thing like Riverdance is up for cast album (it shouldn't have been, but was) and is playing nightly all over the country as well as on PBS, it will win (over Rent).

Oh, I was recognized often, and people did stop and ask for autographs.  I was on all the right shows - shows that were hits and were watched by a lot of people.  And it still happens when reruns are shown.  I was recognized a lot for The Partridge Family, and when the Dinah Shore CBS series was on, it happened a ton of times.  Also, there was one year where I had like ten commercials running and people stopped me a lot cause they recognized me from those.

Dear BK--

Did you enjoy the staging of "The Boy From..."--and Mr. Gaines' reactions through it--as much as I did, which was a lot?

I'm relieved to see that most folks here aren't flaunting their dictums.

There's much too much of that in the gym shower rooms.  And it's becoming something of an occurrence on TV in shows like "Manhunt"...and don't get me started on the "Real World" cabals.

No, I belong to that group that thinks dictums should be safely tucked away until the situation for hauling it out and making a statement comes along.

And no putting anyone's eye out, either!

DR Jose, I'm curious, does everybody involved with the show HAVE TO do the classes?  Or is it just offered to all?   It sounds like hard work.  But it's good to get exercise.

Oh DR Stuart, I love cruises.  Went on a Caribbean cruise about 5 years ago and it was so GREAT.  I really would love to go on another one soon.

Jay: No, I didn't.  I thought it was peculiar.  Oh, she was funny, and her takes were funny, but I didn't think any of it served the song (one of my faves) very well.  And that's what makes horse racing.

Speaking of cruises, there were only 2 things that I didn't love.  One was that the rooms are so small.  And the other is the turbulence.  But I'll bet the newer bigger ships have solved a lot of the second problem.

My favorite part was the food.  I have never tasted such good food in my life.  I mean I was literally stunned that they could make such high quality food at the dinners (the buffets weren't as good).   Since the dinners are mass-produced I thought they would be just average quality.  But the things we ate were so delicious I was truly stunned.

And since you can order as much as you want, everybody at our table took to ordering two or three desserts, so we could easily find out which one was best. :)

Amazing Race, Big Brother AND cruises?  My, we have so much in common!

Next you'll tell me that you simply adore singer Julie Budd, or the score of BALLROOM or I HAD A BALL, or Drake's (not Hostess) Apple Pies!

mmmmmm.... pie...

I didn't have a cup of coffee this morning because I woke up late (oops!) and now I have what I think is a caffeine-withdrawal headache.

Thank God there are two Tim Hortons on campus...

Well, that explains why I was having so much trouble getting a payment through on an Ebay item I won earlier this week...I tried for 2 days before I could get Paypal to work.

The whole school is in chaos today because of the debate. There are political rallies going on everywhere, and this morning, some guy with a megaphone was sharing his opinions with everyone on this side of campus. He didn't seem to be for anything, but he was anti- everything you can think of. It was a nice way to start the day.

I actually saw the paypal story on yahoo news.

Does anybody else have this problem?

Yahoo is my home page.  Anyhow sometimes (like yesterday) I will see a story headline that interests me.  Then when I finally go to read it (maybe 30 minutes or more later) it's gone.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place where they kept the headlines from the last few hours.  Or maybe there is and I just don't know about it.

The sad thing is that I couldn't remember the title of the article I wanted to read.  If I had remembered it was "paypal" then I could have just typed it in "search".

Oy.
