Shoot! I don't have enough time to gather enough money to join in the fun! Darn!

News no one can live without!
I tell you so!

Nov.4, 2004.
LOS ANGELES, Befitting the ultimate voyage, Dame Julie Andrews will kick off Crystal Cruises' 10th annual World Cruise departing Los Angeles on January 15, 2005. The celebrated actress, songstress, author, director and godmother of Crystal Serenity returns as a celebrity guest to the luxury ship she christened in July 2003. Dozens of other noted entertainers and lecturers will join the grand odyssey, while over 300 Crystal Adventures ashore (including 36 new tours) have been set for the
101-day "Empires of the Sun" World Cruise.

Ms. Andrews will join Crystal Serenity for the first segment of the World Cruise, traveling from Los Angeles to Tahiti via the Hawaiian and Society Islands. On board, the award-winning entertainer and best-selling children's book author will interact with guests through a series of Q&A sessions and book signings. Guests will enjoy revisiting some of Ms. Andrews most beloved roles in classic films including The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Victor/Victoria, as well as her current feature films, The Princess Diaries 2
and Shrek II.

"We are tremendously honored that Ms. Andrews' first cruise on 'her ship,' Crystal Serenity, will be aboard our World Cruise, our grandest of voyages," says Gregg Michel, president of Crystal Cruises. "The scope of her talent, her warmth, and her style are illustrious, while her contemporary pursuits and sophistication reflect the values of Crystal. She is the perfect complement to this journey of a lifetime."

Friday media report:

CD (car) - Ella Fitzgerald's Rodgers and Hart Songbook - loved this on LP ever since being Elmore's rehearsal assistant for a R&H revue almost 30 (yikes!) years ago and finally splurged on the CD's last weekend.

DVD - still working on Sex and the City, Season 1.

But, what this true blue Michigan Wolvering is watching tonight is ESPN Classic's Instant Classic broadcast of last Saturday's Michigan-Michigan State game.  Didn't see it live 'cause we were on the road in Indiana.  "Gotta get back in the game, Coach!" (Big Chill reference)

Recently located actress Sara Shane, who some may recall as playing opposite Gordon Scott in TARZAN'S GREATEST ADVENTURE. She now lives in Australia and has agreed to let me interview her via e-mail! Hopefully that will work out Ok. I am very excited as she has long been a favorite of mine!

Maybe she is one of my neighbours MBarnum.
I'll make some Tarzan calls and see if anyone responds.

Do you think that the same people who like RENT like AIDA?

DRJennifer, I went into RENT expecting to hate it and loved it so much I've seen it around six times now!  I've scored two numbers from AIDA for singers, and I find it a poor excuse for Verdi's great opera, not very tuneful and rather embarassing; those "Aida, Aida" choruses seems so much an Evita ripoff.

I couldn't really cope with "Rent" at all DR Elmore. The Cd I can listen to,  - the show NOT. Will they film it with those unnecessary microphones too?
Still it wasn't as bad as "Blood Brothers". (that was for td.)

Of course there are the Linda Ronstadt's discs and a rather good one by Toni Tennille as well. Much easier listening. Ella's discs are still the best.

MEDIA CHECK:

CD - A Tale of Two Cities (The Musical)

DVD - Nero Wolfe (Season 2) alternating with The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries

VCR - Gargoyles: Wings of Darkness (The new SCIFI Channel Movie)

BookStand - The New College Latin and English Dictionary (to keep Jose on his toes)

Keyboard - Great Lyricists of Broadway, Hollywood & Tin Pan Alley

der Brucer (who just purchased one of the new-fangled electronic keyboards - you know the kind you say "Keyboard - Sebalius - Finlandia" and off she goes.)
He sneaks things in on the player in his room, which is why his report is different from mine.

He's also been known to be taping stuff in his room AND in the kitchen (on what is supposed to be my TV set for while I'm cooking his dinner) while watching a third program in the living room.  See the kind of respect I get?

Meanwhile, in addendum to my earlier report, we just added to our collection:

Shrek 2 for the grandlads

Stargate SG-1 for him

Sunset Boulevard, Sabrina, and Stalag 17, all part of a Billy Wilder boxed set

and Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume Two for me.  I'll always be a Burbank lad, and Warner Bros. is in my blood as much as Disney and Lockheed are.

I really try to watch my intake of candy and sweets (because I can easily overdose and get carried away because I love it so much), but when I'm sick, if I have a craving for anything, I indulge it. That's my gift to myself for being sick.

Not a big fan of BLOOD BROTHERS, but I certainly liked it a lot better than RENT or AIDA.
