Those machines DO count accurately, but keep part of the count for the owners of the machine.  They have to make money, of course, but it does seem scammy to me.

I take my coinage to my bank/credit union and they run it through there machine for free (and give me ugly looks when it turns out a button or paperclip got in the coin jar by mistake).

Good Evening!

Back from the show.  Very good pace.  And there was even a currently E&T DR there tonight whom I briefly met after the show tonight!  Hint: Her shorts make a particular sound when she walks.

Hmm... That hint sounds a bit unsavory... Hmmm...

My father did not end up coming home from the hospital today.  From the brief - and still slightly cryptic - conversation I had with my Mom, it looks like they're taking it day by day.  The surgery went well, and he's doing well too.  I'll go pay a visit in the morning.

Of course, now my Mom is upset I didn't stay around yesterday... ah, well....

Christmas season in Japan is very merry, but not religious much. We do not go to the church, do not sepnd with our own families or do not make any special traditional home made cakes/cookies, although we do shopping a lot (presents for children and whom beloved).  In other words, it’s just on mercantilism.
On the contrary, on New year's Eve and on New year's day, we spend with our own families and have a lots of special traditional foods on the first three days of the year, as DR JANE knows.  For example, boiled prawns, baked egg rolles, boiled many various vegetables with chicken… be served with square vessel by wood.

I got my MICKEY MOUSE CLUB tin and watched Day One today. Oh, what memories! I watched all the special features on the first disc, too. Nope, I had never seen this episode in my life, so it was all totally new to me.

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to anyone that one of my dreams as a kid was to one day be a Mouseketeer. How devastated I was when the show went out of production.

I have dishes to wash, laundry waiting for me and various work to do.

That sounds roughly like my evening since coming in from work!
Add to that puppy walks and adult dog walks and emails and Ebay, and you'll see why I haven't even plugged in the Extended RETURN OF THE KING.
Right now, however, I do believe I shall attempt to watch L'AGE D'OR courtesy of Netflix.

Yes, you too, DR Matt could have cavorted on the stage with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilara!   ;)

Fox calls for 'Daddy' ...VARIETY 12/14/04 (excerpted)
Gameshow will bow as a 90-minute special Jan. 3
...Either way, each self-contained episode ends with a four-hanky reunion of father and child....possible the woman could form a bond with a fake dad -- or grow to dislike her true father before she even knows who he is...."We're making people play a game to find one another," Darnell added. "But the game aspect takes a back seat to the emotions."
They'd better install a metal detector outside the game room, in case the young lady comes armed.  "You deserted my Ma and Me, you ****er!"  Blam!

End game.

RE: Coin Counting Machines...

The stores in Richmond use Coinstar machines.  I like them.  Yes, they take a small "cut" of your total, but it's an easy - and slightly fun - way to get rid of your spare change.  I took two mugs worth of change there the other week, and walked away with a $20.00 bill!

Two friends of mine - a gay couple - hold the record for one of the stores in Richmond.  They brought in a couple of water cooler containers worth of coins... And by the time - and it took a lot of time - all the coins had been sorted and counted, their grand total was $547.00 and some change - and a few paper clips too!  They went up to New York for the weekend!

Re LOTR:TROTK - The two Easter eggs are funny funny funny!  Go to the chapter menus on the first two discs, to the final page, and keep heading down.  When you find the ring, press enter.

Thank you for the info about Christmas and New Year in Japan, DR Hisaka. Do you have a large family? (Parents, grandparents, children, sister, brothers...?)

I had actually thought of watching the featurette on the horses.  I've heard that some of those equines were quite the prima donnas. . .

Which reminds me... There are no good places to eat around Arena Stage unless you're into way overpriced, mediocre Chinese-Fusion food, or extremely overpriced seafood.  There used to be a French restaurant, Le Rivage, which was pretty good, but definitely a "special occasion" place.  At least Chinatown and Union Station are a brief subway ride away.

Hisaki, my father had a woman by the name of Dorothy  who worked for him for over 45 years.  Her parents and aunts and uncles were from Japan.  Every January 1st we go to her parents house for a Japanese food feast.

Nice to hear that and hope you like it, Jane.

I briefly met Jose this evening! Only for a few seconds, as I was whisked away immediately after a "Hi!" (literally) by my drama teacher and co. But it was a monumental moment indeed, my first meetup with an online friend. To quote said Drama teacher: "And you didn't even get raped!" Isn't he sweet?

Hisaka, what is the actual size of the picture file?  The limit for attaching is 200 KB.  Can you shrink it?

Happy birthday Tom! Gee, that year went by fast. Seems like only yesterday...

It's been another busy day of sitting around and not having to do anything. My last final is tomorrow and then I don't even have to be in denial about that.

The next thing you know I'll be ordering the Jack LaLanne juicer.

Oh, I love the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer infomercial. Have you seen the new one? The Power Juicer is sleeker and more compact. Like a sports car, Jack LaLanne says.

Well, I wrote a lot of script pages today - I won't cite a number, lest I be mercilessly mocked by those who shall remain nameless. AND I just finished a revised 12 page outline of my new project because I got a call from NY this morning saying that they would really really really (that's three reallys) like it tomorrow so we could have a phone meeting on it this week. I made no promises, but fueled by a lot of Diet Cherry Coke (Yahoo, Sandra!) and a bag of roast chestnuts, I plunged in tonight after I put the script to bed -- and did it. Even came up with some good new ideas. Fatigue is sometimes a very creative force.

Indeed it does Sandra. But then every day in the USA sounds like yesterday to me.

The final disc of the new LOTR:TROTK set includes a piece about a young filmmaker in New Zealand named Cameron Duncan, as well as some of his work.  It's not to be missed.

I have no need to mock - it would merely be redundant. ;D ::)

Just before leaving for dinner I got a call from Scent of Mystery Man, saying the screening has been cancelled.  Very disappointing.  We're now shooting for Friday, but he says the same thing could happen.  The problem is, it's being screened in a normal theater and there are last minute things that happen (tomorrow, the Dolby people are suddenly showing up to do some recalibrations).  So, keep excellent vibes and xylophones for Friday, because I must see this film.

Had a lovely dinner with Mr. Walter Willison - tales were told, oh, yes, tales were told.  It turns out he loves Li'l Abner as much as we all do.
