IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS
« on: December 14, 2004, 12:00:16 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, you've sent out two turtle doves to your true love, you know that it is not over until the fat lady sings, and now it is time for you to post until the Christmas cows come home (which will be after the fat lady sings).

Because I don't get my DVD releases the day they come out - hmmmmmm....I don't remember exactly which ones were released in 2004 - but of the ones I am sure of, I would choose:

Hell's Angels - 1930

Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow/Ghost in the Invisible Bikini

Les uns et les autres

Call Me Madam

Titanic (1953 & 1943)

Three Coins in the Fountain

Deanna Durbin Sweetheart Collection

Invisible Man Legacy Collection

That makes eight and I will save two to steal from some other DR's list!

Thank you one and all and all and one and particularly the sundried. I have had a delightful birthday made all that more special by the Kimlet family.

Topic Of the Day: DVD releases.. I too don't get them until well after release date and certainly in no particular order. Mary Poppins, LOTR 3 (in a few days!!), Harry Potter 3, Kiki's Delivery Service, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Tenant, A Hard Day's Night and The Triplets of Belville are the DVDs that come to mind.

Day-2 Birthday Greetings Tom.

It's 10 (Celsius) below here. Archie and I are back from our walk. He's gone back to sleep, and I'm having a steaming cup of coffee.

I get some dvds before the release date, others on the release date and many (in the used bins) long after their release date. That said, my favorites of 2004:

LATTER DAYS
GONE WITH THE WIND
MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS
DISNEY TREASURE ON THE FRONT LINES
TRIPLETTES OF BELLEVILLE
ED WOOD
FREAKS
SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS
RAGTIME
HOME ON THE RANGE

Hi Hisaka!

I keep forgetting to ask what do you do in Tokyo? Do you work? Go to school?

What kind of movies do you like? Do you ever watch Godzilla movies??? And who are your favorite actors and actresses (Japanese or otherwise)?

DR WILLIAM F.ORR: Hello. I just visited the site www.tomovoz.com for you and for birthday boy DR TOM and found that it’s a homepage of a singar/song writer named Tomoko Ikeda (sorry,I don’t know about her) made by herself. And it says she has released one CD so far and is going to make another one. The site is made for advertising herself, I think. She sings pop songs with bossa nova taste(she says).
And then I actually sent her a note and asked why she had named her homepage TOMOVOZ, just out of curiosity, but the answer is not sent yet. Will post it when I received.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU DR TOMOVOZ!!!!!!!
We ( you and I) are in the same time zone, right? Nice to have a person who live on the same very day(date), on this borad. Oh, you’re on the Southern Hemisphere!   Wherever you live, EVERYONE is on the same planet!

Good morning, all!  Even DRMBarnum has posted before me today!  I'm truly slothful this morning and here's today events:  sleep late, do laundry, go to recording office, dinner in the Village with friends.  I'm totally unmotivated right now.

TOD:
HARD DAYS NIGHT
CINDERELLA
FREAKS
GONE WITH THE WIND
CALL ME MADAM
The Legacy Horror Collections: Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon

Since I'm still watching DVDs from 2002, I'm lucky enough to get this far!

Another happy birthday to DR Tom (maybe it's early enough here to still be your birthday there; I'll never get it right in my mind.)

So happy you're enjoying HOUSE, DR Jane. It's such an involving medical mystery show with really interesting characters. And we have a new episode tonight where House makes a mistake, so I've read.

Top DVD releases for me:

THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT trilogy
The Warner Marx Bros. box
The Universal Marx Bros. biox
The Judy Garland series of releases
CALL ME MADAM
STAR! (despite not being the perfect transfer, I'm just so grateful to have it at all)
The Universal W.C. FIELDS box
The Warners FILM NOIR box
The DRACULA legacy box
GONE WITH THE WIND

I can't put LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING on the last because I don't have it yet, but I'm sure I'll be spending many happy hours with it over the holiday season.

There wasn't room for that last group of Hitchcock releases from Warners, but I'm so glad to have those, too.

And the TARZAN set from Warners. I just love those MGM Tarzan films. I wish they'd do a follow-up box of Weismuller's RKO Tarzans which are inferior in quality to the MGMs but still very entertaining.

I won't be posting for most of the day today because I'll be writing. And I can't discuss that, lest I be mocked by certain parties. So it's better to remain silent. Laters.

Now, where in tarnation does one get these pre-paid international calling cards?? I have researched them on the internet and the prices are very cheap...but does it make any difference which ones you get? And can you get them at stores rather then over the internet?

I think that my Sara Shane interview will need to be done via the telephone (she being in Australia) rather then via e-mail since we still seem to be having troubles with that.

I think I remember seeing an International phone card at Costco.  Do you have a Costco membership, or is there even a Costco in your area?  If you have a Costco but no membership, you can (I'm pretty sure) get a day-pass kind of thing where you can try it out one time and buy some stuff before you actually join...unless you actually have a Costco membership.  Or, if you know someone who has a Costco membership, they could get it for you and you could pay them back.  Let me know.  I go there just about every week.

DRMBarnum, I swear they sell these cards in every deli in New York!  I would think a Walmart or some other such store might carry them.

Good Morning!

-At least I made it to "morning"...  I slept kind of funny last night.  Funny bad.  My arms and hands kept falling "asleep" - my right hand still feels a little out of whack right now.  I guess it's been all the changing of beds and pillows from my parents' house to my apartment, plus the usual remnants of opening week stress.  Hmmm...  But I'm awake.

My plan for today is to drive back up 95, and play the show tonight.  I think I shall start that drive in about two hours.  In the meantime, I'm gonna finish watching "Ellen", pull my one bag of Christmas ornaments out of my closet, gather some CDs and DVDs for my listening and viewing pleasure this week, etc., etc., etc...
