That is the general consensus, DRMATTH - and some "stars" are contemplating that.

Spent a lovely 90 minutes with the movie THE STATION AGENT this morning. Such a quiet, lovely film, not much of a plot, but three very interesting characters. The movie's only 90 minutes, and I wished it could have been at least twice as long to get to know more about these unusual people.

I can imagine their disappointment. There are theater awards at several of the area theaters where I've appeared. I've won some and lost some, and I know, even with something so relatively insignificent, how it burns to lose, especially to a performance you don't think was your equal.

I've got a BK Question (but all can answer):

How many different states of the USA have you visited so far?  (Not counting states you've passed through on an airport layover, of course.)

And which state, which you haven't yet been to, would you next like to visit?

I've been to 40.  Hmm, don't know which I'd like to go to next but within the next year or so I should be going to 5 of those I haven't been to yet.

You youngun, you,  ;D   next you'll be telling us you don't remember Pogo  "We have met the enemy and he is us"

Now there's a musical waiting to be written ! (I'm not showing my ignorance of an existing musical of Pogo am I?) C'mon, bk, elmore, WFO, CP and all, write me a musical of Pogo...and make sure I get some nice house seats, because remember, my talent is the art of appreciation of the talents of others!!  :D

Personally, I think this would be a HUMDINGER of a show!!!

Deck the halls with Boston Cholly
  Falalalalalalalala
Nora's freezing on the trolley
  Falalalalalalalala

That Pogo?

Well since we have no more guesses, I will tell all the DR's that said invention is:

A device for enhancing the incubation of membrane-based assays.

After I finished THE STATION AGENT, I popped in the DVD of BROADWAY MELODY (of 1929). Looks the best I've ever seen it look. It'll never sound anything but tinny, but it looks a lot better than THE COCOANUTS from the same year.

DREAMCHILD was on one of the premium channels this afternoon (Showtime?), and I recorded it. Ironic since we were just talking about it the other day, and I haven't seen it since it first appeared in theaters. I'll watch it at some point over the next few days.

I also have an extreme allergic reaction to perfume.  Although perhaps it's getting better.  I used to not be able to even walk through the front of any department store without holding my breath and running through.

States I have visited: California, NY, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, Indiana.

Btw, if anyone has a link to last night's TOP TEN (letterman) it was extremely funny.  Well #10 was. The audience could not stop laughing ( i have never heard this reaction before).

It was something like: Slogans for a new gay beer.

And #10 (this is just from memory so i'm paraphrasing): We don't like Bush!

That's what I was going to guess ;D  Yeah right. The other one looks likes something you'd put test tubes in to separate out DNA....

The true definition of frustration:

Having all the nominees up on stage together, but there's a no-show, and that's the bastard who wins!

I can imagine losing an Oscar made bearable by the fact that you can slink down in your seat, or stand and applaud and hide out among the forests of the famous. But to lose and then still be in plain sight, and then have to walk gamely back to your seat or stand there and watch the winner speak, knowing you have to smile because you may be on camera behind the winner's shoulder? That sounds like a peculiar kind of torture.

vixmom- I do know ol' Pogo. He was still in the Atlanta paper when I moved down South.

JRand54: My guess is some sort of device for enhancing the incubation of membrane-based assays.

Ah yes DR RON - I had to stop taking Vanity Fair magazine because of the perfume ads.  I requested a subscription for the non-smelly edition, but NEVER got it - so they lost me as a subscriber.

Those cards drove me crazy.  The worst perfume allergy I ever experienced was with women wearing CHER - whew!  It smelled like mosquito repellant to me and make me sneeze and my eyes water....it was the worst - for me!  Sorry, Cher.

:)
I'll forgive a mispelling.  I picked this up from the official site:

Top Ten Slogans For The New Gay Beer

10. For guys who don't like Busch.

9. Cold as a mountain stream, gay as a picnic basket!

8. For all the gay stuff you do, this beer's for you.

7. Made with the finest gay hops and barley.

6. Toss one back, and while you're at it have a beer.

5. The perfect drink for spending the afternoon watching "Trading Spaces" with the guys.

4. Come out of the closet and head for the mountains.

3. Wreck your liver and your marriage!

2. Drink until you can see "straight".

1. The Queen of beers.

There really is a gay energy drink, along the lines of Red Bull, but I can't remember what it's name is.
