DR Jennifer - You can't use liquid sweetener in a meringue.  The liquid will just prevent the proteins in the egg whites from doing their thing and whipping up properly.  If you were beating the egg whites to use in something else like a cake, then liquid sweetener may work.  Otherwise, the liquid would just dissolve the "whip".

If you're using a liquid sweetener for dietary concerns, you may want to give the Splenda a try.  They have a "bakeable" version out.  -It's very weird - the box looks like it should weigh about a pound, but when you pick it up, it's next to nothing.  However, once you open the box, it's a box full of Splenda.  It's made from sugar so it reacts a bit more like real sugar than some of the other artifcial sweeteners on the market.

15 minutes should have been plenty.  And just like liquid sweetener, if there is any water left in your bowls or on your beaters, that could affect your final product.

Liquid sweetener in a meringue?  Never!  And speaking of meringue:  MERINGUE!  LIMBO!

You can't use liquid sweetener in a LIMBO either, and certainly not in a MAMBO ITALIANO.  In fact, one shouldn't use liquid sweetener in anything.

As for States...  Due to my one and only bus and truck tour, I actually drove through and stopped in quite a few number of states.  The only ones I have yet to step foot in are Alaska, Hawaii and Maine.

I've lived in Virginia (various parts), Washington, and Connecticut for extended amounts of time.  I was born in Massachusetts - Go Sox!  I've worked for at least two weeks in the States of Florida, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, California, Virginia, Texas and Utah.

Otherwise, I've been in every other state except for those noted above for at least a day if not two or three.

Comic strips...

All the "adult" ones I never understood while growing up - "Prince Valiant", "Apartment 3-G", etc.

And I would run hot and cold with "Cathy" - who I understand finally got married recently - the reception is taking place this week in the strip.  There's a great article in Post today the comic strip and how Cathy has remained sort of ageless for better... or worse.  -But that's another comic strip.

Happy Chinese New Year, y'all!!!!!!

It's the year of the Rooster.  If TCB were here, I'd say it was the Year of the Cock.

Actually, I'm a Monkey, and Steve is a Rooster.  According to traditional Japanese astrology, we should not be compatible on any level.

WRONG!

Which points out the problem.  You would be on that stage voluntarily.  The other nominees were called up without being given a choice by Moore.  His having them stand behind him made them all appear to agree with him, regardless of whether they did or not.

Michael Moore MADE them join him?  He held guns to their heads?

I don't think so.

They had a choice to just say no, shake their heads or remain in their seats.

I'm feeling a little out of sorts.  And, yes, it's the stitch/cramp/pain in my right side.  It actually does feel better, but my mind just keeps overwhelming itself with thoughts of appendicitis or gallstones.  Now is just not a good time for me to deal with any sort of major medical issues.  -But, of course, when is a good time?

A doctor friend of mine up here in Arlington said I could see him tomorrow if I'm still not feeling "well".  I ran through my symptoms or lack thereof with him over the phone, and he thinks it's just some muscle pull - and that I'm probably just pushing myself a little too much with my workout right now.  -Which I have done before, so...

I just need to stop thinking so much.

I’m sorry I meant to respond to your earlier question regarding this.  I had this problem when I jogged.  I think your friend is probably right, especially sense it coincided with the beginning of your working out.  But if you are concerned you should see your friend tomorrow.  Peace of mind will help you relax and it might go away. Good luck.

Where in Massachusetts were you born?

States - the ones I have not visited are Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.  Lived in Oregon (born), Michigan (grew up in Detroit), and Ohio (now).

DR Rodzinski - Sorry to hear about your job troubles.

DR elmore - funny you should mention Joan Morris last night - I was just listening to her on my iPod at work yesterday and remembering how much I love her singing.

DR Jose - another loss this week in the classical music world is Karl Haas - we used to listen to his "Adventures in Good Music" on WJR Detroit, from the Golden Tower of the Fisher Building.

DRs Elmore & Ginny: Only replaced my Joan Morris "After The Ball" record with a CD last year.  Love those "Edwardian"/Turn Of the Century songs.  Am also fond of Edward Woodward's recording of similar material.

DR Jose:  I used to get stitches in my side when I overdid the exercise.  They seldom stayed with me, though, so it's possible you "pulled" something.  :(

Friday is a holiday for us County workers.  It's our celebration of Lincoln's Birthday.

Yes, we also get Washington's Birthday, too (known as President's Day for those who don't get both).  This year, that day is Feb. 21.  And, as I am planning on taking Feb. 18th off, the next two weeks are looking happy, happy, happy to me!

DRTomovOz:  Do you have any fondness for Kathryn Grayson's version of "After the Ball" from "Show Boat"?

Or her "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" from "Lovely To Look At"?

I believe I'm through writing for the day.  I'll have a few things to add to what I did today, but overall I'm over the latest hump, I think and have begun a new hump.  A New Hump - the title of my next novel.

Few know that the song in "Aladdin" was originally titled "A Whole New Hump". It was to be sung by a camel.

I don't think so.

They had a choice to just say no, shake their heads or remain in their seats.

:)
And what were they to do at receiving the invitation during the awards ceremony, not move from their seats?  That would have appeared strange.  BUT he had not made clear to them exactly what he was going to say beforehand.  By having them stand with him on stage, he implied that they all agreed with him.

Moore used them, plain and simple.  They were not allowed to speak for themselves.  He never gave them the chance.

George, DO NOT visit the Grand Canyon if you are bothered by heights.  My depth perception problems kicked in and, spectacular as the canyon was, I had trouble controlling my stomach.
As far as I know, I don't have much trouble with heights...as far as I know. ::)

Here's a swell Grand Canyon photo for DR George:
Thanks!  That's pretty damned cool!
