I spoke to our Danise last night.  She sends her love to all.  She has a lot on her plate right now but will try and stop in from time to time to say howdy.  She sounds good and strong and says she is healing well.  Her 87 year old mom is having issues and her dog Bear is still mourning the loss of Brandi so she is doing some major caregiving.

So please send Vibes to our dear Danise!

We came home yesterday to find a package addressed to the Vixter...inside was an American Girl Place gift certificate marked  "To the Vixter from A Friend in Florida"

That Danise is such a sweetie!  With all the stuff she is dealing with she still takes time for such kind and generous gestures!!!

I'm up, I'm up, and have been for forty minutes, but I had to answer a bunch of e-mails.  I'm now caught up and must shower and ready myself to be on my way to LACC.

Many thanks to BK, Penny, George, Maria, Tomovoz, Ben, Ginny, Larry, Dan, Sandra, JRand, Jennifer, Vixmom, MattH, Laura and Jane for the birthday wishes.

Apparently, I'm actually going to get to do my tax work at home today even though I normally have to go into the accounting office on Tuesdays, and I figure that wonderful development is a result of the birthday vibes.

Got some scoop on IDOL.

Tonight the singers do two songs each. One must be from the year of their birth. The other must come from any of the current Billboard charts,

Here's what seems to be shaping up for tonight's songs:

Chris will reportedly be doing Staind's "Right Here" and Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me."

Katharine will be doing "Black Horse and The Cherry Tree" along with "Against All Odds."

Taylor: "Who Says You Can't Go Home," and "Play That Funky Music."

Paris: SOS and Prince's "Kiss."

Elliott: "On Broadway" and a Michael Buble song.

So that means Ginny, Jane and I all have reservations there for Oct 2-8!

Danise and I have reserved our rooms at the Comfort Inn from the 3rd to the 8th.

I’m pleased you are enjoying THE KITE RUNNER as much as I did.

Oh oh oh:

Mr Billy deWolfe, who did a similar schtick to another actor that I DON'T LIKE when he does it..... Mr Richard Haydn.

South Carolina:

As MattH recalled, South Carolina IS "the Palmetto State".

But, South Carolinians are nickhamed "Sandlappers" for some reason.

Re: "American Idol" songs.

One of my LEAST favorite songs of all time is "On Broadway".

Something's amiss, too, with this being a song from the year of his birth....I heard this song back in the early 1960s....Elliott is only 27 or 28....he couldn't have been born before 1978.

And I don't think it is so much that they don't make 'em like that any more...IMHOP it is that they don't write roles for those types of character actors any more...nor do they get hired.

Woddy Allen had pretty much been the only recent film maker who would stock his movies with character actors, but nowadays, he seems to favor younger vanilla faces.

I've been trying to think of some current day character actors:

Helen Hanft
Harriet Harris
John C. Reilly

All time favourite character actresses:  Fay Bainter and Beulah Bondi.  Beulah Bondi may be one of my favourite actresses, period!

Name the actresses:

1.  "Don't send a baby to buy the beer."

2.  "You must be a magician - the way you made my sandwich disappear."

3.  "The first time Morris and I were alone after we were married....well I thought Mom and Dad must have been lying to us all these years."

4.  "Could anyone have stopped you, Flo?"

I guess Kathy Bates would be considered a character actress now.

Randall "Tex" Cobb - the gigantic and charismatic ex-heavyweight boxer whom you may remember as The Motorcycle Rider in RAISING ARIZONA. He shows up in some quirky films, now and again.

Joan Cusack - actually, one of my favorite actresses. I still think she was robbed when she didn't get her Oscar for IN AND OUT.

Of course, Thelma Ritter and Eric Blore and Edward Everett Horton and a bunch of those folks whose names I shockingly cannot recall, from the Golden Age of Studio System Rep Company movies...

Oh - who is the small-ish guy with the flat nose who was in THE STING and BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID?? Him.
