Questions that loom in my life:

Will der Brucer figure out how to survive next Monday, when there will be three shows he will want to watch running at the same time, and he doesn't have enough recorders to cover them all?

Will there be another dog in our life soon?  (Angie's placement with her new family is quite successful, good news there.)

Will the new summer trainees at work, foreign exchange students mostly from Russia, be an interesting batch, or will they mostly hang out with just each other?

Will The DaVinci Code be worth seeing?  (One of the women's magazines we sell is boasting on it's cover about "The DaVinci Code Diet."  I figure the diet's big idea is "Don't swallow everything whole.")

To work I must go.  Later.

THE AMAZIN' RACE

SPOILER WARNINGS  ! ! ! ! !

My predictions were off, but I couldn't be happier.  While I have previously stated that I would have been satisfied if any of the final three won, deep down I really wanted these guys to win.  The look on their faces when they were told that they had successfully completed the final task was priceless and I was applauding and cheering them on during their run to the finish line.

I don't remember there being an intermediate Pit Stop during previous final race episodes.  Maybe the producers thought that the journey from Japan to Alaska to Colorado would have been too exhausting?  Maybe the Game Show Network (which broadcasts previous TAR races) requested less two hour episodes?  Maybe just another opportunity to hawk the bluetooth device that was awarded to the hippies?

I really love this show.  I hope it finds a new audience this fall and stays around for a while.

Here are my thoughts on last night's TAR.

.
.
.

First off, here it ended at 9:45pm. And i was really confused. BUt CTV (canadian channel) must have fasttracked the commercials so it could switch to the end of American Idol.

Okay re: TAR.

I was ultimately happy with the winners. And I was very happy that the 3rd place team finished 3rd. No matter how nice they were, they really just blew so many chances. Every time the teams were equalized they just made mistake after mistake.

Also, I loved the whole Tokyo thing, and how the one hippie could speak japanese. That was awesome to watch. But i wasn't too happy that they had the hotel guy lie about having internet service.  And also they lied about seeing the sign on the roller coaster.

The one thing I was not happy about was the end and the flags. I didn't like it when they did the map for the FAMILY TAR. And I just don't think it's far to save such a mental challenge for the very end. Before the very end, fine.  But it gave the hippies such a huge advantage. I really wish that the hippies had gotten to the flags first. Then i would feel much better about things.  But the way it ended it basically felt (to me) as though the frats deserved to win, but they gave it to the hippies.

Oh and for those TAR fans on the West Coast there is a very special announcement at around the 8:30am hour on the CBS early show.

As for IDOL.

I only watched the end. But I was really happy with the results (i know i'm the only one here who was). But i was surprised that taylor was so close in votes to the others. I thought he would have had a bigger margin than 33.5, 33.26, and 33.06 (something like that).  I'm guessing that more of elliot's votes will go to taylor though.

One more thing re: TAR.

I thought everything they did in Denver was really lame. I would have much rather they raced around the ACTUAL city, instead of going in some barn in a remote area.

A small quibble I had about the flags was that I think there should have been a rule that the flags were not to touch the ground.  Towards the end when both teams were hurriedly rearranging their flags, there were a few times when they were flinging them to the ground.  It struck me as a bit disrespectful to the nations they visited.

I'll bet that on the next race, the final task with be a physical one.

Good morning!

ANother beautiful day here with highs now creeping up into the mid-to-high 70s.

They've been forecasting thundershowers for days now, but there hasn't been one on my side of town. Same forecast for today, so we'll see. . . .
