No, I don't think many of them had my home number - just a couple, but I don't know that I'd remember who?  It could be anyone in the department, frankly, but someone who knew some of what went on in the class.  It certainly didn't SOUND like anyone who was actually IN the class, but it could have been a put-up job by one of the two disgruntled students who I was a little tough on during the staged reading.

I'm really groggy this morning, what with a total of about four hours of sleep.

BK - If you think of it when you see her, please send Skip's love to Heather MacRae.  She was great in a workshop of one of Skip's shows several years ago (and also her brother Bruce was one of Skip's students during Skip's BMI days).

Good morning!

Another scorcher here, and I'll be indoors throughout the day. The thunderstorms they keep insisting we're going to have just don't arrive. At least they haven't yet. THey're in the forecast today, too.

Great news about the cabaret. Glad it was such a success! Hope the others are equally so.

Feeling much stronger this morning, so I did my Friday workout this morning. (I have a modified workout I usually do on Saturdays and now that will slop over to Sunday.)

I appreciate the good wishes from DRs DakotaCelt, Vixmom, and others. Really, my little problem was minor in comparison to ailments others are enduring, but I appreciate the good thoughts just the same.

Another June Allyson movie today: TWO SISTERS FROM BOSTON. Of course, one must endure Miss Kathryn Grayson to see it, but sometimes, one must sacrifice for his art.

BK, it's days like these that I wish I were in sunny LA.  Would love to hobnob with you at the Courts Show and also see your latest theatrical endeavour, the cabaret.

Favourite performances of some favourite songs:

Johnny Hartman singing The Ballad of the Sad Young Men.

Tony Perkins singing Never Will I Marry.  Tony may not have a great voice, but it is pleasant and very effective.

Bob Goulet singing Daydreamer.  Of course, I have nothing else to compare it to...I think his is the only version ever.

Guy Haines singing I'm Glad To See You Got Want You Want.

Judy Kaye singing Windflowers.

Barbara Cook singing In the Heart of the Dark.

Vic Damone singing Very Warm.

Frank Sinatra singing Night & Day.

Michael Feinstein singing Blame It On My Youth

Bobby Short singing You Fascinate Me So.

Johnny Hartmann singing The End of A Love Affair.

Sammy Davis, Jr.  singing Night Song

David Carroll singing Mirrors and Shadows

Ella Fitzgerald singing  I Am In Love

Bing Crosby singing Out Of This World

Buddy Clark singing Haunted Heart

Vaughn Monroe singing Ghost Riders In The Sky

The Sons of the Pioneers singing River of No Return

Michael Martin Murphy singing Don't Bury Me (On The Lone Prairie)

Brook Benton singing A House Is Not a Home

Gene McDaniels singing Tower of Strength

Gene Pitney singing Every Little Beat of My Heart

Alfred Drake singing The Olive Tree

Fred Astaire singing Let Yourself Go

Jolson singing Back In Your Own Backyard.

That's enough for now.

Cillaliz, I actually had the pleasure of taking 2 classes with Richard Ofshe.  One was a large lecture class and the other was my senior seminar with only about a dozen or so students.  The lecture class covered false confessions, interrogation techniques, and cult mentalites.  We also watched a made for tv movie about a case he had worked on when he was out one week testifying on another case.

TOD - such a difficult topic.  I'll have to dwell on this for a while.  In the meantime, I must do laundry and perhaps watch Deceit

Just waiting for Mr. Nick Redman to arrive and then I shall be on my way to the Hollywood Collector's Show.  The big question is will we sell even one item?  Any West Coast lurkers, do come by.

Hmm, not sure I've seen that movie.  With all the knowledge you have, I'd love to have you on a jury!  It's amazing what the police can do with their interrogation techniques and the things that people will confess to that they didn't do. I find it extremely fascinating

Hope you sell lots of items, BK.

And speaking of confessions....I am finally reading the Kritzer trilogy. I've had them for a very long time, but hadn't read them yet.  I'm nearly done with Benjamin Kritzer and am finding it most enjoyable. The section I read last night made me very hungry for a vanilla custard ice cream cone. Luckily we have a Culver's that serves custard cones. Not as good as I remember from growing up, but good nonetheless.

It's supposed to be around 100 degrees for the next 5 days. Paul doesn't have air conditioning and wants to go to a movie today to get out of the heat. (He has places he could stay and has a window air conditioner he could put in his room. He's just being stubborn, so I don't feel sorry for him) - He wants to see Nacho Libre. I wasn't really planning to see it, but what the heck...NACHO LIBRE it is...  Free Nacho? I'd love to EAT free nachos...
