JMK-Did you take BeeGee with you?

Penny is your car at the cabin?

No--we rode the train there and back and they frown on personal pets on board (though one woman had this appalling little miniature Chihuahua (or however the hell it's spelled).  I do not think it was a service dog, LOL.

We did hire a housesitter to stay here so that BeeGee could stay here while we were gone.  He was awfully depressed last year when we kennelled him on our trip to Yellowstone.

The theatre two blocks from me is showing PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 2 and MY SUPER X-GIRLFRIEND,  I may go see one of them tonight or tomorrow?  Anybody want to come along?

I will, if you will pay my ticket to and from NY!

I know a bunch of you big brother fans here like bunky. Since marcellas is in the house, bunky is cohosting the Housecalls shows. Well at least he did for the 4 shows they have done so far.

I actually wanted to watch today's show (with the bootee). But since i didn't watch it live it's not up yet.

Got my errands done, but was it ever hot and uncomfortable. Whatever coolness was in the air this morning was completely gone when I left the house at noon. Just muggy and awful.

I put on another CSI episode while I preared and then ate lunch. This one involved a woman burned over 80% of her body but who didn't die. What an interesting story behind the fire! Since I rememebred the outcome about halfway through, I switched over to the commentary from the writer and director of the episode and found it very interesting.

Then came MOON OVER MIAMI. The Technicolor was excellent, but I fear the lamp in my television is starting to fade as the transfer seemed a little dark to me. I have a spare lamp, one I bought after the TV was a year old just to have it in readiness not knowing when the lamp was finally going to burn out. I may be replacing the lamp at some point this weekend.

Here's what I've learned today:

It's a whole lot easier to teach people this grantseeking process than it is to do it yourself.

Soon I will be off for my three four day weekend.  The 4th day is my all-morning dental appointment, so I don't expect to enjoy Tuesday, but at least I don't have to come to work.

After I finished that Fox musical (which I had never seen all the way through), I put in my favorite Pierce Brosnan 007 movie - GOLDENEYE.

The new Ultimate Edition Bonds will be arriving in REgion 1 at the end of the year, so I wanted to revisit some of these earlier transfers to remind myself what they looked like. This transfer looks marvelous.

DR Elmore - good report from your doctor's appointment.

I'd go see either movie with you if you were still in Middletown.

Wasn't there once something called Aroma-rama, which I'd imagine must have been much like Smell-o-vision?

In a word, YUP!

Quote
The 1959 film, Behind the Great Wall, used a process called Aroma-Rama to send scents through the air-conditioning system of a theatre.

also:

Quote
In homage to Smell-o-Vision, American film director John Waters released an enhanced "Odorama" version of his film, Polyester in 1982. Waters included scratch-and-sniff cards that the audience used while watching the movie.

(Above from WIKIPEDIA)

Rumor has it both films were real stinkers.

Are any Queens Long Island residents having power problems? Hiz Onner is out-of-sorts:

Quote
New York Blackout Worse Than Reported
Estimated 100,000 Queens Residents Without Power

...

Bloomberg said the utility's latest estimate was that most of the problems could be fixed by the end of the weekend.

Con Edison also said Friday that 35,000 customers in Westchester County, the suburbs just north of New York City, also lost power after Tuesday's storm. About 6,000 were still out Friday morning.

Bloomberg demanded that the utility investigate and deliver a report on the cause of the outages in Queens within two weeks.

... this appalling little miniature Chihuahua

Tecnically, there is no such thing:

Appalling Dog Site

Quote
Though some people prefer to specify the name of the breed and call their dogs Tea-Cup, Tiny Toy, Pocket Size, Miniature or Standard Chihuahuas there are no discriminations made within the breed according to the American Kennel Club. Chihuahuas weigh usually up to 9 pounds. However, the standard does not allow dogs weighing more than 6 pounds to be shown.

These are wonderful animals, as long as they're yours; others will most likely find them yippy, nippy, and, well, appalling.

Well, we went about an hour with 2 cats running free in the homestead!!!!!  Callie finally got Boo cornered under the pie safe so I separated them again for awhile.  There was some hissing, paw swinging and howling, but it's much milder than it has been in the past.  Who wudda thunk it

I had a Twilight Zone moment today:  Seeking out community agencies that may have an interest in health & wellness for teens & families, I found a local pediatrician who I'm about 98% sure is the older brother of my freshman-year roommate at The University of Michigan (38 years ago!).

I do my damndest!

The power failure in Queens is truly alarming:  100,000 people without power since Monday.  The damned power company Con Edison is finally admitting the problem is bigger than they realized.  Manhattan is so lucky.

It sounds like an Enron stunt.

Reminder that there are new episodes tonight of MONK and PSYCH. ENjoyed PSYCH last week a lot more than the pilot, so I'll be interested to see if it keeps up its momentum.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I had a wonderful first rehearsal for Dear Edwina.  I just had a "notes session" with two members of the cast, but they're quick studies, and we were done way early.  :)

-Which also meant I got back uptown before the latest round of downpours started.  Whew!

Hi all,

Just popping in to let you know that all is ok.  I went to the doctor yesterday and while I didn't get a total clean bill of health, it's nothing like the "C" word.

I confess I was pretty scared.

I need to try to go back and catch up on the last weeks posts.  I hope I didn't miss anything important and that everything is going fine for everyone here.  :)

Oh - And more "So You Think You Can Dance?" talk...

I've been amazed at how young most of the contestants are.  Travis and Martha - and a few others - are just 18.  *And I remember Travis from the revival of The Music Man.  I just hope they all continue to take care of their bodies, so that they have long careers.  -Some friends I went to school with who are dancers are already looking for other careers since their bodies can't take it any longer.  :-\
