THE UNFASHIONABLY LATE NOTES
« on: July 23, 2006, 01:38:34 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fashionably noteworty and unfashionably late, and now it is time for you to post until the fashionably and unfashionably late cows come home.

BK, are we allowed to submit more than one answer series for the Unseemly Trivia Contest if more than one seems to work out (he asked, hopefully)??

Ain't that a kick in the teeth.

Heather MacRae has made me cry.

(She would have made der Brucer cry, but he was sitting next to me and thought one of us was enough.)

(Sunday matinee perf of Falsettoes, to be specific.)

Re der Brucer's daughter, and her mother...

I have met the mother.  If that is what the daughter is turning into, hell on earth will be a reality.   :P

And now I must wend my way to work.

With a hangover.

Too much wine last night.

But a good time was had.

Good morning, all, and a special good morning to DR SWW!

I had a fitful night of very peculiar dreams, which I attribute to this cold and my current state of health.  In my last dream, I was carrying my goddaughter Charlotte, who was a baby, into the stockroom of Barnes and Noble.  I had set her in her carrier down on a table with books and for some reason I had to move her.  I picked her up and I was suddenly in the Miami Universitry theatre's costume shop around 1970:  long tables with fabric and sewing supplies everywhere.  When I got to a table and put the baby down, I was carrying my sleeping brother Tom.  I have no idea!  I also remember part of a dream involving a carton of work I had and an elevator.  Oy!

So, much as I want to stay in bed, I have to go to Fourteenth Street for several hours:  I have errands and a bit of work I must accomplish.  After that, I shall hie myself back here and crawl back to bed.

TOD:  maybe later.

Sunday morning greetings!  DH Richard is off to church in Cincinnati and DS Rob is on a canoe/camping trip with UC friends, so I'm enjoying my solitude this morning.  It's blessedly cool and the humidity's down, so we opened our windows last night.  It's so nice to air out the house after being hermetically sealed in air conditioning for a couple of weeks.

Heather's mother was of course featured on the "sunburn" episode of I LOVE LUCY....along with Don Loper and Amzie Strickland...and the "wives of some of Hollywood's top stars" modeling gowns for SHARE.

Good morning!

The rain continued off and on for hours last night, so outside was a soggy mess this morning, and though it's not burning hot, the heat we do have makes it SO sticky outside and definitely uncomfortable.

I'll be doing my usual SUnday errands (laundry, cleaning my bathroom) and glad to be inside doing them.

I really have no idea what I'm going to be watching today. I've kind of soured on the idea of the nearly three hour THE GOOD EARTH.

I'm thinking definitely ON BORROWED TIME, and I think maybe ORCHESTRA WIVES, too, at some point today. Neither of these are very long, so I should be able to watch them and get chores around the house accomplished without much grief.

Oh, and I just remembered I have "Death Ship" (the hour long TWILIGHT ZONE episode) cued up in the player, so that will undoubtedly be first. I'll have it on while I'm fixing and eating lunch.

As for the quality of the Region 1 I, CLAUDIUS, I haven't watched it in awhile, but if I remember correctly, the transfers were taken from the videotape masters which is why they might not be as sharp as they could be.

I don't remember having any problems with the sound, however.

I do adore the series and it's not such a bad idea to possibly revisit it during the upcoming week.

New episodes tonight of DEADWOOD, ENTOURAGE, and RENO 911!, and the reuns of COLD CASE and GREY'S ANATOMY will be new to me, so I have quite a bit of TV to either watch or record tonight.

I'm up, I'm up.

I haven't fixed anything, but the notes appear just fine when I click on Today's Column.  I suspect cache problems.

I just re-entered the site from scratch - entry brings up today's column, but the link at the upper left, under Guy's picture, still takes me to yesterday!

George and TCB - Did you guys ever answer whether you wanted me to get you (on us) that two-ticket membership for the Village Theatre Festival of New Musicals?  Here's a link to the whole line-up, in case you're interested in more info.  The Last Starfighter presentation is on Friday night 8/4 and the panel on Movies to Musicals is late afternoon on Sat. 8/5.

Nothing like a festival to get you working on your show.  We just got the latest draft of the script and score off to the theater.

Hearing all the NYMF excitement around New York theater circles is a little tough.  We were just recently greatly honored when we were asked to do a NYMF production as part of this year's festival, but when that happened, we tried all day and evening to get our creative team together for a schedule that would allow us to do it, but several of them were just not available at that point.  It would have been quite prestigious for us to be able to also do NYMF, but I guess you can't look back.  :(

Back from the longer version of the jog - cloudy, so not quite as broiling as yesterday.

Now, I must say that given all the NY hainsies/kimlets get-togethers over the last couple of years, I expect we should have a big West Coast version when The Brain From Planet X opens, which, coincidentally, is on my birthday, December 8th.  So, start saving your pennies now, book early, and let's do it up right.
