I was not able to watch Grey Gardens this weekend. The videotape taken out of the library is defective and it wouldn't play in any of the VCRs. Oh, well. I will watch it at some point.

TOD:

Hmmmmm.....

George Reeves - I don't think it was a suicide, Jack Larson notwithstanding.

The Candy Mossler case....whew....what a gal....and she was found NOT GUILTY!!

The Lindbergh Kidnapping

Frances Farmer's entire arrest/incarceration/insanity case is fascinating.

We also learned that Ms Annette Funicello's voice is NOT everyone favorite.

DR RLP....when I last heard Jody McCrea was still managing his late father's ranch in Northern California.

Closer Season Finale Casting Question:  Who was the guest star playing the FBI agent (the one who was DeLuca's "partner"), the one who looks a little like Michael Keaton?  He was so familiar to Betsy and me, but we missed the credits at the beginning.

Disclaimer.... The MOTW based on the incident does have a number of inaccuracies. One that really bugged me was Mountains in the scenery... There are NO mountains in ND!

That, my dear, is an Urban Legend (Urban?, ND?)

Yes, we have mountains!

This issue of North Dakota Horizons reminds us that, despite popular belief, our state does have mountains! North Dakota's state geologist fills us in about the interesting story behind them.

My long weekend is nearing it's end...but I did get two, count 'em, two Bollywood movies watched.

The first was a Punjabi film starring my favorite Dara Singh. SAWA LAKH SE EK LADAUN (1976) which was about rebels fighting evil rules back in the old, old days. It was an Ok movie, but nothing to write home about.

the second Bollywood movie was a fun comedy/science fiction film titled SHREEMAN FUNTOOSH and it starred the popular singer Kishore Kumar along with Kum Kum, Jeevankala, and Baby Yasmin.

Part of the film was sort of a take off of THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN.

The DVD comes out in November as well. (It's already listed on Amazon.)

I think the only really good thing that could happen in BB7 is for Erika and Janelle to be the final Two.

After ALL that Will and Boogie have done...and all the posturing and preening in the Diary Room feeds...it would be SWEET to see them ousted one after the other in the next two evictions.

And I'd love to see the looks on the sequester house guest faces when each walks in.

Now this one I could really go for.   I don't watch the feeds and haven't had a chance to read Canoe, so I don't know exactly what happened with the women.  If Janelle does kick out Will, my opinion of her may change for the better.  I don't mind Erika.  Her strategy is a strategy....being a floater and shifting with the power but not getting voted out, that actually takes some talent in this show.

I really got into the study of the events at Jonestown, 1978, and the events that led up to those events. It's a real rabbit hole of a situation that the more I study, sometimes the less I know.

Re: OJ trial.   The glove thing was a HUGE mistake by the prosecution and was egged on by Johnnie Cochran telling Darden if he didn't have him put on the glove the defense was going to.   How dumb of course a leather glove that has been wet with blood is going to shrink.  That was just an ego mistake as were many others.

Cochran was good at egging on Darden and to a lesser extent Clark.  Mark Fuhrman was another - if you don't call him we will.  How stupid.  If he wasn't called in the first place, and they didn't need him to be, the defense would have no credibility to attack.   Basic mistakes in trial strategy.

Derbrucer, you may already know this, but that looks like that park in Chicago, where if you stand in a certain spot, your face gets eventually projected gigantically like that.

I actually get interested in a lot of the high profile crimes. I often read a book or two about them.  (OJ was obsessive, I read 22 books on the case).

I am looking forward to seeing both The Black Dahlia - I've read several books about that one and Hollywoodland - I'm not that familiar with the whole George Reeves death, but I am curious

Well I met Batman and Robin...masquerading as the bug man and his son.  Anyway it turns out I have very polite bats.  The only guano they found was in a tray immediately below my attic air vent.

We didn't see any bats, but there was evidence (guano) that they were there.   Much to my chagrin, I agreed to let them use sticky traps.  If the bats are in my walls, (and I did hear scratching last night) there is just no way to get them out.  They will either go into the basement and into the house - YIKES! or the sticky traps will get them in the attic.  I really do feel sick about killing them, but they carry rabies and I just can't take a chance with them in the house.

I have two true crimes that each have a bookshelf apiece in the library.  They are the Jack the Ripper murders and who killed the Princes in the Tower...or even were they killed.  I think they were, I don't think Richard III had anything to do with it.

I will be leaving soon. I must think about dinner and we will also put together (the drum unit and toner cartridge must be installed) our new laser printer.

Later in the week we will mosey over to Bed, Bath and Beyond and use the 20% discount coupon lifted from that house on Long Island. We are planning on buying a new toaster oven.

Isn't our life exciting.
