Oh, and we figured out why I didn't get my wakeup call (did I already tell this story?) - the phone's ringer wasn't working, hence the call came in but the phone didn't ring.  Bastards!  They brought me a new phone and this one actually rings.

It's been a very long week but it went really really fast. Don't know if that makes any sense, but it's how it felt.

BK, you probably have an alarm clock on your cell phone. If you check through your cell phone settings, you'll probably find it.

I'll be wearing my jacket this evening.

Your softest little jacket made of watermelon suede with a long persimmon placket with the platinum braid?

Good Evening!

I'm back from my "theatrical adventure" - a.k.a. the first three numbers of Cabaret.  Everything sounded fine and dandy, so...

Now I'm thinking I may be in need of some dinner...  Hmm...

Going through the score for A Christmas Carol the Menkin/Ahrens version and finding the cast recording and tv soundtrack rather useless as rehearsal/learning resources.  The asst MD and I may need to record the score this week.  How exciting is that.  Unless I can find someone with the MTI Rehearse-score.  That's always a possibility.

Off to Vietnam for the weekend.  Man I love playing this show - (that's Miss Saigon) not the aforementioned A Christmas Carol )

Thanks, Larry, for the lovely comments on STARFIGHTER.

And it goes without saying, thanks to BK.

Jose - I'm keeping a head count for Joe Allen's tomorrow night, and the reservation will be under Bruce's name.  As they instructed, I called today to confirm the reservation.

Drats - no Rehearse-score for A Christmas Carol - looks like we may be preparing a rehearsal CD.   That's just too too exciting.

Whatever happened to good old-fashioned note-plunking, listening, tape recorders, and learning it that way?

DR Matthew - Which version of the ending are you using for Saigon?  I know there were at least four of them used during the run on Broadway.  Were you given options?

No - I think the version that is on the end of the "Complete Symphonic Recording" is the one that is considered the definitive ending.  No options were given.  I'm still trying to located recordings of each of the different endings.

As you get older, you don't want to sit through staging rehearsals which is what the recording would be used for.  I still make my casts bring tape recorders and always reccomend a recording for them to listen to to learn the flow of the music and the show.  :)

..And, yes, the licensed version of the Menken/Ahrens A Christmas Carol bears almost no resemblance to the OCR nor the TV version.  The show changed each year it was brought back - mainly depending upon who was the starring as Scrooge at the time.

DH Richard and I just spent the evening at Middfest International, our city's annual international festival.  This year the featured country is China.  The highlight of the evening was the excerpts we heard from Thomas Stanghelle's

Some Sunny Night

The opera musical had its US premiere last night right here in Middletown, Ohio's Sorg Opera House.  The company leaves early tomorrow morning to perform the work Sunday morning at 10:30am in the Bandshell in Central Park.  I'd recommend it to anyone who's in New York.

Last night, one of my coworkers saw their production of Moonlight & Magnolias.  She spoke very highly of it.

...next Thursday post-show?

Thursday day - Richard and I will be there until whatever time we need to leave to get to the 4pm Choral Evensong service at St. Thomas Church at Fifth Avenue & 53rd.  That will depend upon where we are as that hour approaches.

Thursday dinner (pre-show) - ?

Thursday post-show - Count us in!
