Excerpts from The New York Times:

A Chorus Line

Quote
By BEN BRANTLEY

 Sara Krulwich/The New York Times
Members of the cast of the Broadway revival of "A Chorus Line."

In providing us with an archivally and anatomically correct reproduction of a landmark show, the creators of this revival neglected to restore its throbbing heart.

Evil Dead: The Musical
Quote
Off Broadway, New World Stages (formerly Dodger Stages)

PLOT DESCRIPTION
'Evil Dead: The Musical,' a "dis-arm-ingly" riotous musical comedy based on Sam Raimi's '80s cult-classic horror films, unearths the old familiar story: boy and his friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning in uproarious numbers like 'All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons,' 'Look Who's Evil Now' and 'Do the Necronomicon.' Buzzing chainsaws and dancing demons add to the frenzy, slaying audiences with this tale of lust, love and dismemberment. The first two rows of the orchestra are the "Splatter Zone." Patrons in the "Splatter Zone" should be prepared to have a bloody good time...and dress accordingly. — TheaterSource

I'm up, I'm up - I don't seem to be able to sleep past eight o'clock these days.

JMK - We wrote an original screenplay for The Faculty back in 1990 or so.  Couldn't give it away until Scream came out - then it got optioned in two hours by Miramax/Dimension - Mr. Williamson was originally slated to rewrite and direct, but Rodriguez came on board and that was that.  He kept the structure of our script, and the two characters that resemble what we did were the principal and the Elijah Wood character (he used our female lead's name for Elijah - Casey, and the principal's name was the only other name he left alone).  So, the structure, much of the story (but not the particulars) were ours, but not one line of dialogue remains.  While I think our idea was great, I don't think our script was, and he did what he needed to do - however, there were a couple of sequences in ours that he should have kept and they would have made his film a bigger hit, at least from where I stand.

I hope someone said hello to Mr. Burstein and Mr. Wolpe from me.  And FJL, tell Miss Silliman that I'm VERY disappointed she hasn't e-mailed me!

I searched and searched, but my problem was i was always including the word "Hitchcock"!

So did I. It wasn't until I posited that your source was wrong did I find it. (Damn, another women leads me astray!)

So, what's my project for today?

Well, you people obviously need a documentarian on the crew. I think several here could fit the bill, including our own"wildlife" photographers (when you go to those "special interest places")!

I fear all my "special interest" photographer friends are all tied up with following Congressman.

Actually, I *do* have one for you. I've been looking for a movie for a few years now called "Cry Onion". It stars Franco Nero, but the voice is dubbed by someone doing a Jimmy Stewart impersonation. It's a Spanish film...kind of a parody of spaghetti westerns...with onions!

Here's the imdb link:

Good luck!

BK - I don't know if anyone specifically said hello from you to Danny Burstein and Lenny Wolpe, but your name was bandied about often, and in most agreeable fashion, in the course of conversation with both of them.

That's only the second time I've seen that - weird.  I just deleted the post where two posts seemed to have fused like Pogue's The Fly.

I've read that Rio Bravo was the answer to High Noon - I love both films, actually.  High Noon just works for me as a FILM - I don't think about it too much - I'm just taken in by the tale and the acting and the direction and the music and the editing.

Bruce -   Will someone who got to L.A. too late to attend the Friday night BRAIN performance be able to sneak into the after-party, or whatever these things are called in L.A. - or will that just be for the cast and company of the show?

Good Afternoon!

Well...

It was raining when I left DC, but the plane took off pretty close to its scheduled departure time.  Alas, we had choppy skies pretty much the whole duration of the flight.  It didn't bother me too much, but, apparently, those toward the rear of the plane had quite the bumpy ride.  Consequently, the had to cancel the beverage for "safety reasons".  -Why can't they just say that they don't want to risk spilling Diet Coke and hot coffee on passengers?  ;)  In any case...

When we landed in Charlotte - a couple of minutes late - they announced an "unscheduled equipment change".  Hmm... Originally, I was just supposed to stay on the same plane, and then proceed on to Ft. Lauderdale from here.  Well...  By the time I reached my new departure gate, we were told that that flight was going to be delayed.  And since they were combining the passengers from two other flights on to that plane, that they were also overbooked.  And since "we" were on the second flight to come in...  In short, it's looking highly likely that I will get bumped off the flight which was supposed to take off at 1:25 2:25, and get put on the 3:55 down to Ft. Lauderdale.  An inconvenience, yes, but if I do end up getting bumped, I will get a free round-trip ticket and possibly some other "perks".  So... Not too bad a deal.  We shall see...

DR JMK (et al) - This cruise gig is a one-off.  Just seven days, and I've been hired by a cruise ship group operator.  I don't think "this" is "your" gig.

And for anyone who would like more of the gory - well, more like scary - details of my upcoming adventure, just check out the link below:

Quacker Cruise 2006

Yes, it's QVC-related, but it's still a free cruise, and I'm only scheduled to work five hours[/b] out of the seven days. And I'm also getting paid too!  Bonus!

:)

They do have internet access on the ship, and I have packed my camera, and I do plan to post some pics.

DR jhvw - Good to know that you got to sleep in this morning.  So... Just remember... Head up 8th Ave to 52nd... Turn left... Go past the Post Office... And you'll be "there".  -And if you take a left on 51st, there are a couple more "theres" there too.

;D

There is a name for people who trade "getting bumped" for "perks" - and it ain't "The Singing Nun"!
