And the word of the day is: DISTRAIT!
Casey would waltz
With a strawberry blonde
But she had forgotten to take her meds
And was so DISTRAIT that she constantly bolluxed the steps.
(Was that your foot again, dear?  So sorry.)

Last night DR derBrucer wrote:

"The characters in Brokeback Mountain were NOT cowboys and/or ranchers (IMDB notwithstanding). - they were sheepherders!"

We've had this argument before. They WERE cowboys. Both participated in the rodeo (Ennis mentioned that he rodeoed whenever he had the enbtry fee, and we see Jack riding bulls), and Jack often worked on his father's ranch before he was married and started working in his wife's father's business.
Cowboys does sound better than sheepherders.  Sheep have this nasty reputation for being easy, cows don't have that reputation.

But nobody makes documentaries about these things.   ::)

Busy moring:

Went to clinic to have blood drawn for my quarterly doctor's visit next Monday.

Got my flu shot.

Mailed a special holiday greeting card (my mom's).

Bought some groceries (in the physiological state of having been fasting since 8:30 p.m. yesterday).

And now I'm home.

Home.

And here all of you are.

Something has just arrived via USPS.  It is a box.  I have a hunch it contains DVDs.

I'm off to see if I can salvage anything that might be construed as productive on the rest of this day off.

I have four working days till my three-week vacation begins!

ALL of the performers in today's TOD run hot and cold for me....from just okay to can't watch it.....

MY GEISHA always reminded me of a Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour where Lucy did the same thing....and it wasn't very funny when she did it either!

Dean Martin....probably THE YOUNG LIONS...mentioned by DR MATTH...although certainly SOME CAME RUNNING is also very good.

Tony Curtis...like DR MBARNUM, I like a lot of things from his U-I period but especially a movie called JOHNNY DARK about a race car driver-designer and MISTER CORY a Blake Edwards movie featuring a dynamite Martha Hyer performance and also starring Kathryn Grant (Crosby) and William Reynolds.

What a revoltin' predicament this is - part one of the notes twice - that's a first (or, in reality, a twice).  It has been fixed so go read part two now and you'll know the topic.  Something must have happened when I cut and pasted part two - apparently part one didn't want to be gotten rid of so easily.  Oh, well, it's been rectified, oh, yes, it's been rectified.

Mondays will make things go a bit wacky...

Before I came to today's discussion thread, I was reading  the notes and I was wondering what the earlier posts were talking about for I had seen today's topic... Now I understand!  :-)

TOD:  Sweet Charity, which was my favorite movie when I was a kid, and Desperate Characters, IMHO Shirley's greatest performance and the one she should have won the Oscar for (not even a nom, some say due to the fact the film came out the same year her lamentable TV series did).  Plus Desperate Characters costars a certain PDX-er's father.

MISTER CORY is the kind of movie in which the ladies wear lovely tea length formals and the gentleman wear white dinner jackets and smoke cigarettes taken from silver cases.
