And thanks for the birthday wishes for HP.

BK - Oh, Ok, but as we discussed, please send them for Friday morning delivery because I need them (for Hannukah-related purposes) by the weekend.

Postage is no object at this point.  :)

Thanks.

If you love Brasilian music (and if you don't, you should), buy this CD department:  I just had the good fortune to play a private party with an extremely gifted guitarist (with credits up the yin-yang--technical term) who laid his CDs on me as we left.  I highly, highly recommend going to his site:

http://bossanouveau.com

and purchasing "You're Not the Bossa Me!" (great title, eh?).  Absolutely beautiful stuff, with incredible playing and some killer arrangements.  The guy is also recovering from Stage 4 cancer, so I know any orders will be very appreciated.  This has my highest recommendation.

Speaking of birthdays, today is the actual 90th birthday of my mother-in-law.  Remember, we had the parties in August and September?  Tonight, we will just take her out for dinner (she chose Bob Evans) and maybe for a drive to see Christmas lights.  She also requested a copy of the

Figure Skating TV Schedule

which I just printed for her, for my mother, and for myself.

Happy 90th Birthday to Ginny's M-I-L!!

I shall now be on my way to LACC for our little presentation to the Board of Trustees, and then will have something good to eat (maybe Hugo's mac and cheese) then back for our evening performance, at which I hope there will be an audience.

Much thanks for the travel vibes, everyone.

My washing is done.  My sheets, DR S. Woody, were washed and the bed re-made for my return...clean sheets after a long flight are much appreciated by me.

My shuttle is booked...a 7:15 p.m. pickup for a delivery at airport by 8:30 p.m., three hours before my 11:40 p.m. flight.

Sigh.

I've been following the TSA rules to the letter about how to pack, what to pack, etc.

And now it is a waiting game.  I have just under 7 hours to preoccupy myself with amusements.

As I said this morning, I chose Volume 2 of the True-Life Adventures to begin with since it contained two of my favorites. I couldn't wait to see what they would look like on upconverted DVD.

THE LIVING DESERT looked simply amazing. Almost all of the dirt and scratches have been digitally removed, and the Technicolor timed to look almost brand new. I couldn't have been more astonished at the quality of this 53 year old film.

THE VANISHING PRAIRIE came next. It has always been the most problematic of the feature-length True-Life Adventures photographically speaking, at least on the VHS tape I've been watching for about 15 years.

The color is much improved, but at least 30% of it is still either soft or totally out of focus. This has to have been part of the original photography with nothing that could be done to remedy it. Still, what's sharp is very nice, and all of the color is a thousand percent better than it was on the tape. A clear step-up from what I had before.

I have SEAL ISLAND cued up to be next. It's a two-reeler instead of a feature, so it won't take long to see it. I haven't seen it in several decades, so I'm looking forward to it.

Next, I watched the last episodes on disc 3 of the BONES set. This one had to do with skeletal remains found at the bottom of a 200 foot shaft sunk of the coast of DC. The bones seemed to be pirate bones which had everyone terrifically excited that they might be on the verge of a discovery of treasure. Fine episode but the killer became obvious pretty quickly.

I finished the afternoon watching the HBO First Look: DREAMGIRLS. Snippets from the movie were shown, but most of it was cast and crew talking about how marvelous each person is, so it's pretty much a puff piece. Still, my appetite is definitely whetted to see the finished film. I liked what I saw and heard with the brief excerpts.

Thank you all for the vibes!  Tomorrow my dad turns 85, and I suspect this will be his last birthday.  It kills me to type this.  He was so looking forward to renewing his driver's license in three years.
