Back from a most delightful and delicious dinner.

Of course, I am shocked to find I'm the only one in the jernt.  What is WITH this WUSSBURGERING epidemic?  Nine-thirty - I mean, everyone should be ashamed to be so wussified.

It's no fun posting without anyone here, so I'll hope that some kindred spirit will show up soon.

Like all movies that feature battles (even masterful movies like THE RETURN OF THE KING and not so masterful as STAR WARS III), I feel directors just have them run too long, at least for my comfort (I'm sure those who enjoy such things would prefer even longer contests). The battles throughout the film are extended to the breaking point

Is it as overblown as the car-tossing battle in XMen III?

Good Evening!

Well... Progress has been made.  I shredded close to two full drawer-fuls of various papers.  And since I figured there was no time like the present - and since my roommate, Jim, had come home just at the right time, I went ahead and moved the desk - the big, heavy(!) desk - out of my room and out onto the sidewalk.  It's one of those old-fashioned, sturdy, government office deals.  Just a little too big for what I need, and since I need the floor space for more shelving - and a smaller desk...  -And that then enabled me to place a bunch of my boxes in the nook where the desk once way.  *Now I'm just waiting to hear people outside trying to move it.  It really is quite heavy.  We ended up "tumbling" it out of my room.  -Thankfully, it just fit through the doorway.  Whew!  -And, thankfully, again, I have an "outside" door in/on/off my bedroom.  *Originally, I was thinking I'd take it through the hallway, but it was not going to fit between the staircase and the radiator.

In any case... Done!

And the steak knives?

*When Dustin Hoffman was doing Death of a Salesman a the Kennedy Center, he dined one night at Ruth's Chris Steak House with his daughter.  He enjoyed his meal immensely, and he really like the steak knives too.  So, he bought a set.

I will wax on about the steak in the notes - it was superb!  It's great eating at one of the most expensive restaurants in LA with someone who works there.  Our total bill came to $120 - after her discount the total bill came to $29.  That's what I'M talkin' about!

Perhaps I'll go watch a bit of the first of three Dr. Mabuse movies (on one DVD) from the 60s - they're awful transfers - full-frame, only English dub available, but I still find the films amusing, and they're all directed by the guy who did most of the German Edgar Wallace movies.  Were this DVD as good as those, it would be sweet.

Our side dishes were dinner salads (with spectacularly good thousand island dressing), asparagus with hollandaise, and great onion rings.  I didn't have any potatoes.  But, I did have dessert.  Thankfully, I'm not overly full.

If I didn't have the Porterhouse, I would have opted for:

Fall Seasonal Special Venison Chops with Blackberry Sauce
A double boned venison rack, marinated in garlic and herbs, broiled to perfection, and served with a fresh blackberry red wine demi sauce.

What wine - Boone's Farm's finest?

Most gormands would spend $120 just on the bar tab!
