In any case...

When I headed out earlier, I had no real plan or intention. I just wanted to walk around for a bit. So, I headed up to Broadway, and started walking south. 145th St... 137th St... 125th... 116th... 110th... 100th... When I got to 98th, I ended up running into a friend I haven't seen in ages - a very pleasant surprise. He just happened to be heading out for a bit to stretch his legs too, so we headed over to Riverside Park and walked around for a while while we caught up on each other's lives.

It was gray and foggy this afternoon, and it was neat looking at the ships that were moored in the Hudson - almost ghost-like with all the fog. And we came across one older gentleman who seemed to be on a first-name basis with a couple of the squirrels in the park. As we approached him, we heard him calling out various names, "Angel!, Maria!, Anna!..." I thought he might have been walking around with some (grand)children, and he was calling out their names. But there were no children in sight. Then after seeing him pull out some pieces of bread from a bag... Ah... Some squirrels came up to him, and started eating out his hand. Only in New York.

After walking around for a while, we went ahead and stopped into some Thai place for dinner. Very good. And, again, it was great running into my friend, and catching up. He works for the airline industry now, but he used to be an actor, and we had met years ago on a production of Singin' In The Rain. So, it was kind of neat running into each other in the rain today.

WFO and his everloving Joe took a 2 week excursion to St Croix . I agreed to look in on things every once in a while....well it tiurns out it was a mighty good thing I did... yesterday morning while BK was having no hot water WFO and Joe had it sprouting from the joins in a basement pipe.

This visit I had made after a trip out with Vixdad and the Vixter so they were waiting out in the car while I went in to change the lighting patterns and talke a quick look around.

Thank goodness!!

I ran out and grabbed Vixdad and he ran in and turned off the house water supply. The guys had of course instructed me in these arts but I panicked and forgot it all....

They also had mentioned that they had a new plumber recommended by their neighbor, and had left that same neighbors' phone number for me... well she was fortunately home and called the plumber for me who came and effected repairs.

It seemd the leak had sprung not too long before I discovered it and it was still on the smallish side not a roaring stream.....and evern more fortunat;ley it occurred directly above the spot the gents are keeping their newspapers for recylcing, so the papers soaked up a good bit of it and kept the mess to a minimum.

In other news.... my left hip has been bothering me for several months now. I could sit very comfporatbly but often when I stood up and attempted to walk i would get pains in my hip and down my leg... this has progressed from intermittment and mild discomfort to contant and sharp pain..

I finally went to the doctor last Tueasday evening and he told me I had an inflamation. He gave me a cortisone shot and a prescription... for several hours after he gave me the shot the bones in my left leg ached so badly I swore the man was a quack ... but I fianlly fell asleeep and when I woke up ...mairacles of miracles!... I could stand on both legs... I could go down (and up!) the stair case one step after another instead of one step at a time whole leaning heavily on the railing

I have been instructed to go for a hip xray but this weekend was too full to deal with such matters so I shall try and slip it in in the next week or so

It was sheer luck... I have been stopping in every other day or so and I had planned to go Friday night but I was delayed until it was too late for me to go without feelin a bit nervous on my lonesome
