I'm sure Jose can handle 4-7 inches.

Will we never get to page forty-two?

It's a possibility.

I have been to Mars.  It is very interesting.  The Martian girls all wear very short skirts and very high heels.  They walk around with T-squares and say very scientific things.

Red Carpet E! coverage starts in less than two hours....then I think I may watch some of THE AMAZING RACE before The Oscars.....there is a half hour break in there network wise for some dumb show.  Time Will Tell.

I really get BORED with the monologue (it's not a television variety show) - and I don't care how entertaining it is - it suddenly becomes ALL about the host(ess).  The awards could be given out in about 90 minutes tops....the rest is time to fill between the expensive commercials.

SPOO!

I haven't been paying attention; the little drizzle outside has turned to a full blown snow fall.

Now, can I get the car up the driveway to fetch the chef?

Wish me luck.

The E! Channel used to start Oscar coverage at noon EST, and I used to be stupid enough to watch it, but those days are gone forever. For me, the Oscars used to be MY day, and I really did wait with baited breath for them each year.

Now, though I watch them, I seem removed from them and my interest is more a carryover from the old days than any real interest in the films that are now celebrated.

THough I never thought the Oscars were infallible, they were often more right than wrong about the choices. I'm not so sure any more about their selections.

I began my afternoon with the delightful WITH SIX YOU GET EGGROLL. I had forgotten so much about this movie. I had NO idea it was a Panavision film. (The excellent transfer was not only anamorphic but also had a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, another surprise).

Brian Keith had a gorgeous body for us to admire when he fell out of the camper with only his boxer shorts on.

Didn't remember Barbara Hershey as the daughter. So nice to see her so young. John Findlater was also a handsome guy as Doris' oldest son.

I spent the remainder of the afternoon watching three episodes of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT from the second season set I'm still watching (on disc 3 now).

Each episode guest starred a well known New York-based actor:

John Benjamin Hickey in the first one. (Karen Black was also in that one)

Lee Tergesen in the second one.

Michael Hayden in the third one. (And Hal Linden was also in this one.)

You played the Mighty Mo? when was that? Love the jacket---you would have fit right in on stage at SISTER ACT!

I've played at the Fox, on and off, since around the time of the first threats to the building by Bell South.  I actually did the first 2 fund/awareness-raiser concerts there - I think around 1976 or so??

And if I'm gonna be in Sister Act, I want the Kathy Najimy part!

I'll probably be watching GREASE during the half hour arrival show on ABC, and then switch over to the Oscars at 8:30. So while others are talking here about the arrivees in their fancy clothes, I'll be talking about the GREASE contestants. That should offer some variety.

And they deserved to be. They were both gorgeous men in their primes.

Frankly, I was a bit surprised NBC decided to run new episodes of GREASE and the 10 p.m. CROSSING JORDAN opposite the Oscars. The other networks (and HBO, for that matter) are pretty much airing reruns and not trying to compete at all with the Oscars.

When I was a very wee lad, I assumed that Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot were the names of the performers who played Jody and Buffy on FAMILY AFFAIR.  I figured the kids must have been THE STARS of the show, and those were the names that were in the opening credits. I was shocked shockjed shocked to learn that "the kids" credits were relegated to the after-show crawl.

I hung out a bit with who I guess was the Najimy equivalent---named Amy. She was really sweet and didn't mind spending time with us, even though I know she was probably tired and had another show that night. She was terrific!
