And, yes... As I sit here at the kitchen table with my laptop, I also happen to have the vocal scores to Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George, and Into the Woods in front of me.

I'd dance, but I don't want to wake my roommates up.

I had thought the same thing too.

Did they come out with an anniversary edition of it?

;D

No.  However, if you want the DVD, it'll only cost you $86.57!! :o

Now this is weird!  I just mentioned a movie starring Dirk Shafer, whom I hadn't thought of in a couple of years, so I look him up on IMDb.com.  Anyway, under the photos is a section, "Next US TV Airings:" and listed for this Thursday, March 1 is the episode of "Will & Grace" that he guest stars in!  What a coinkydink! :D

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. Last night I let the wild kitties go back home. They were glad to get back. Today I have to disinfect the traps and get them back to the agency that lent them to us. Then I will work on church newsletters.

Don't I live an exciting life? I want my life to be as boring as possible.

Yesterday afternoon I was doing yardwork in the front yard when the Goldstein family next door came home from their day at work/preschool. The girls came over to say hello, and I got out a container of sidewalk chalk, and we drew chalk pictures on the driveway. It was fun to relax and play for a while.

Four-year-old Mae-Ling Goldstein is going to be quite a matchmaker when she grows up. She told me that her daddy needs to get married. She drew daddy and a heart, then she drew me next to the heart. She said I could marry her daddy. I told her that I was already married.

I'm up, actually I didn't sleep much at all last night. Lots of traffic noise here - but that's a good thing, it means no icy roads...

This is a Nanci Griffith song that used to really get to me. It still does sometimes

Goodnight To A Mother's Dream
Words & Music By Nanci Griffith
© 1994 Ponder Heart Music/Irving Music Inc. (BMI)
Flippin' bottle caps through the ring around the moon
All alone on a Saturday night with the stars in bloom
I am a vision of my mother's dream come true
Built this house out in the hills
All by my own will
I've got love enough for two
But it's just me and this old moon

Chorus:
And the sailors on the water
...They all want the captain's daughter
They want her beauty and her youth
To grace their bow out on the sea
Me, I'm getting older and I'm plain
As plain can be
Got a bank full of mother's dreams
Maybe mother just didn't see
That love would be the only thing
Her daughter would ever need

Bridge:
Oh, I am the heart not taken
The one thought not worth breakin'
I am the late blooming rose
With only her mother's dream to hold
On this less traveled road
Who really knows
...Maybe the hearts not taken
Are truly made of gold

I'm gonna flip one more bottle cap up at the moon
I've got an early call with so much work to do
But, when I go inside I'm gonna let my back door slam
Mother, to tell you the truth
I would trade your dream away
Just to hear some loved one say
I love you, too

(Repeat chorus)

Tag:
Say goodnight to the moon
I'll say I love you to the moon...
And to my mother too
'Buenos suenos' to the moon

Looks like you did a good job on that one, Cillaliz. She's fortunate she had you representing her.

One more Nanci Griffith...The Flyer
Words & Music By Nanci Griffith
© 1994 Ponder Heart Music/Irving Music Inc. (BMI)
He was a flyer for the Air Force
On a plane from San Antonio
I was traveling to London
He was going off to Buffalo
Changing planes in Pittsburgh
We got grounded in a storm
And, I would give anything
To be on that flyer's arm

We played cards, mostly blackjack
As we sat out on the tarmac
We sang songs we knew in Spanish
As we both loved songs of language
He'd heard me on the radio
I'd seen the flyers of San Antone
And, I would give anything
To have that flyer for my own

Chorus:
God bless the flyer
Who would be flying home tonight
Cuz' I would give anything
To see that flyer, flyin' tonight

He said he'd never married
Cuz, his heart was in the clouds
And I said I was too clumsy
That I broke the wings of the loves I found
He shouted out his name to me
As I ran to make my flight
I would give anything
To see that flyer, flyin' tonight

One year I watched a war in London
In the airport leaving London
And I wondered if I'd know him
If I saw his wings in motion
Did I leave my heart in Pittsburgh...
In the lightning of that flight?
I wish that you could tell me now
Will he be flyin' home tonight?

(Repeat chorus twice)

Thanks. She's a sweetheart, actually. A good person who did some really stupid things to feel loved.  Anyway,  now she's got a good job, her family knows all and supports here and I don't think she'll have any problems getting through this.

Sometimes young girls do dumb things because they are in love. She was lucky this time. I'm sure she will be wiser in the future.

Yesterday Mr. Barnum said:

Everyone has a myspace page except for me.

Nope, Mikey, this old man doesn't have one either. Nor does Anthony. Three of us anyway. Something tells me Tom in Australia doesn't have a myspace page either  :D

I have caught up with all the posts from Oscar Day.

I'm listening to Donald's show right now. A compilation of Company recordings. I have the new cast recording (even though I loathe the production). It sounds better on CD than it plays on stage, but when you hear the original cast recording against the 3 other recordings (Roundabout 1995, London 1996 and the new one), there is no question which recording is superior - and it AIN'T the new one.

Good morning, all!  I'm groggy today.  I'm basically stuck here waiting for a UPS delivery.  Around noon, I have to make a fast trip to the NYPL, so until then, I think I'll work on the chart sitting on my desk.

Isn't Agnomen in THE ILIAD?
