Today I am going to a Big Sit. Instead of a bird walk, is is a bird sit. You set up your chair, and you list everything you see from your spot.

I'll let Paul keep the ticket. He said it was one of his favorite shows.  Today I'm going to have my onstage seat for Spring Awakening.

Sounds like fun DR Laura.

I'm going to go for a morning walk.  Be back later.

Funny, a vacation feels a little different when you couldn't go home if you wanted to

See you tonight at 5:30, Cilla.  Larry can't make it, so we'll make sure to talk about him.  :)

If any other New York DR's want to join us at our place - email me at my aol address dylan43rd by about 11 a.m. or so, so we can plan foodstuffs accordingly.

Hiking is much like the walking I do in New York although hiking I could (or would) do, as opposed to camping.

TOD - As a kid, I had a couple of great camping trips with my parents - one to northern Michigan and one to Mt. Desert Island, Maine.  Once I became a grown-up and realized how much work those trips had been for my mother, I decided that camping didn't sound like so much fun.  If I have to plan meals, shop, cook, and clean up, I'd rather be in my own kitchen than out in the woods.

TOD:

If I were to post stories of my camping adventures, this would cease to be a family-friendly site. 8)

Let's just say I've spent many a memorable night in a tent.

TOD:

Roughing it now means no Cable or DSL.

How times change. I remember when:

Roughing it meant no Radio
Roughing it meant no TV
Roughing it meant no Color TV
Roughing it meant no Cell Phone Connection

(When I was very young, roughing it meant no Fire)

IMPORTANT HHW NOTICE OF COMING EVENTS

A notice to Jane and Ginny and Jeanne and all the other Book Club mavens:

The times they are a-changin':

New York Times
Quote
Pole Dancing Parties Catch On in Book Club Country
By TINA KELLEY, The New York Times

KINNELON, N.J. -- Johnna Cottam was showing a group of her girlfriends how to do a move called the Fireman.

As music by Shakira played, she strode up to grab the portable pole in the living room of her well-appointed lakefront home here, wrapped her right leg around it, swung wide with her left, and spun. When she reached the bottom, Ms. Cottam, in a pink "Got Pole?" tank top and black workout pants, tossed her hair back, mudflap-girl style.

"Kick it right out of the ballpark, just kick it," she encouraged her five friends and neighbors. Making way for the women to try the move, Ms. Cottam backed into a rocking chair draped with pink and purple feather boas that partly covered her twin sons' two teddy bears.

Pole dancing, once exclusively the province of exotic dancers, has flared up as a much-hyped Hollywood exercise craze, and has seeped into the collective unconscious through shows like 'The Sopranos' and 'Desperate Housewives.' A variant called motorized pole dancing, which occurs in stretch limos, has raised eyebrows as far away as Britain, where some female university students pole-danced as a fund-raiser for testicular cancer. And mini-poles have even been spotted as dance props at over-the-top bat mitzvah parties in suburban precincts.

I bet perky Miss Karen will be a star!

Good morning!

Another beautiful day here and another day of highs in the 60s. I have so much going on that I won't be able to get outside much except to run errands in the car.

But it's a totally gorgeous preview of spring.

Today is also the birthday of Benjamin Clark, Narrator and Professor Leder of THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.  I send him my wishes for a happy day as well.

There are two tracks on the BRAIN CD that I have played over and over: Kevin's solo in the first act, and Mr. Clark's hilarious greeting and scolding (and singing) to the audience that opens the second act.

And Larry, your orchestrations are "the bomb" (to quote Randy Jackson from IDOL; I'm not much on modern hip talk, but I'm assumning that means magnificent.)

With no TV shows on the DVR to watch, I'll be DVDing it all day today between attending to errands.

I must watch the Criterion FIRE ON THE PLAINS. I got a box of Universal DVDs in the mail yesterday that I bought on sale from Deep Discount and among them are two DVDs of double feature Bob Hope comedies, some of which I've never seen (LOUISIANA PURCHASE, for example). And then there's LILLIAN RUSSELL which I may wait until tomorrow to watch since it's quite long. Seems more like a Sunday afternoon movie to me.

DR MATTH thanks for your answer last night.

I neglected to say that the instruction DID say that if that connection was used to use a different set up and the instructions are there.  So we shall see.

I MAY get my new TV next week....I am still debating.

It's shaping up to be a nice dinner party tonight.  Cooking has commenced.

Dear Friend Julie will be joining us as well.  (She's an appeals lawyer, so there'll be a lot of legal talent in the room.  :) )

Hiking and camping??  Oh please.... my idea makes much more sense, and is civilized.

A 7th or 8th floor room at the Plaza, NYC, northside view so you can see into Central Park, and then you open a window while you have room service.

And I know DR Laura is probably thinking there is just no hope for me.  But I would go looking at birds and nature with her.

I camped a lot as a kid as a Boy Scout and LOVED it.  (except the snow camping, that was way too cold) I haven't camped much as an adult.  Most of my current friends (including the DP) thumb their noses at the thought of communing with nature.  I look forward to trying to camp more.

The conference is going well.  heard some great speakers, sang great music, etc.  Today, the wind is blowing quite strongly, I hope it dies down.  After today's festivities at the conference it will be time for an evening at the Magic Kingdom, which is always welcome.

I MAY get my new TV next week....I am still debating.

If you want to run any models/spec by me, I'll be glad to take a look and offer opinions, advice, etc. Sometimes when making a major purchase like this, it helps to have someone holding your hand.
