Oh gosh my eyes are burning.  I inhaled some smoke (from my oven) and my eyes have been burning all night. I tried visine and it seemed to help at the time. but gosh do they still hurt.

And no i did not burn down the house. I was making a mini-meatloaf recipe (in muffin tins). And i forgot to put a tray under the muffin tin. It did not seem like there was anyway the meat/sauce would spill over. But somehow it did. And there was smoke. :(

At our house, when (not if) I burn something, before the alarm even goes off, DS's cat Sassy gets agitated and begins squeaking and pacing and searching for DS. She insists that he follow her, and she leads him out the back door to safety.

It's cute to watch. And she couldn't care less about any of the rest of us.

And on that note...

And since I have another full day of rehearsal tomorrow...

And since I'm actually liking having a somewhat leisurely morning before heading out for the day...

Goodnight.

I finished YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE when I went back into the den. An enjoyable Bond adventure. In fact, I actually enjoy watching it more than THUNDERBALL which was a much bigger hit.

It was Diana Ross night on IDOL, and a few folks did well with Ms. Ross's songs:

Melinda, of course, was the standout again with a shortened version of "Home." Since it's from a Broadway show, naturally I loved it and her. I wish I could have heard her sing the entire song. The build to the end is much more impressive when you have the whole song. Otherwise, it kind of jumps to that end from nowhere.

Jordin, whose praises I've been siniging for weeks, did fine though I thought her head voice was much weaker than her chest voice and the break between the two was too noticeable.

LaKisha's "God Bless the Child" was well sung but had a flat arrangement that did nothing to give the song interest.

I thought Phil was the best of the men with "Make You Love Me." Chris Sligh has a very powerful voice, but he wasted it on a strange arrangement of "Endless Love." They are the two best male singers by far, but that doesn't guarantee them anything in this weird competition this year.

As for the hopeless ones: Brandon forgot the words to "You Can't Hurry Love" (my favorite Supremes song) and stumbled on the melody, too. Haley forgot her words on "Missing You" and she too let her voice wobble off the notes in her panic. And Sanjaya was as hopeless and useless as ever on "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

Put this kid out of his misery! And I totally blame the judges. He should NEVER have been put in the top 24 in the first place. I refuse to believe there weren't other male singers in the running who had more to offer than this kid. Good lord, he's ridiculous up there.

DIRT had a much tamer episode this week and one with some excitement with a group of thugs following Don to keep him from getting the photographs he needs. And we got some background of abuse concerning DOn and his mother, too, this week which also made him the most interesting character on the show.

Interesting how GREASE has become the shorthand for the name of the TV show, and no longer refers to the musical.

Can anyone really make out what Frankie Valli is singing in the title song to the GREASE movie?

What that has to do with the script of GREASE the musical, I'll never know.  :)

The title song in the GREASE movie is anachronistic anyway: a disco title song in a movie about the rock 'n roll 1950s? Absurd.
