As for Matthew Bourne's
Edward Scissorhands...
I found it enchanting and entertaining. It's been years since I've seen the movie, but the storytelling was so well done, I have a feeling even a "newbie" would be able to follow the plot very easily.
The choreography and dancing contained just the right amounts of beauty and athleticism. And humor. And the costumes and set pieces were also well done without pulling focus from the dancers.
I also liked how Danny Elfman's themes from the movie were incorporated into the score for the ballet by the composer - whose name is in the program I'm a bit too lazy to retrieve right now.
