Hard to believe Randy Newman  has not won more oscars for his film scores and songs DR George.

He should have won for "When Somebody Loves Me" but he was robbed!

He was robbed by not winning for AVALON, either. IMHO of course...

DR MBarnum, I marvel at the way your posts lower the taste level of this site!

Unlike the contents of your VCR which contribute to the meatier content of this site.

Helicopters are very noise, DR GINNY....as you well know.  Do you think they are as noisy inside?

They have been when I've flown in them, but that's because the doors are off so the cameraman can hang out of the door and shoot.

One time the tail rotor conked out. We were flying through downtown Atlanta, and came dangerously close to the Coca Cola tower. I could see startled faces in the windows. The pilot was able to get the motor started again and we landed immediately. I didn't even know anything was wrong---I just thought he was fliyng kind of close. The cameraman was the one who told me we'd almost bought the farm!

Cillaliz, we have a similar bike event here called BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia). They ride all the way to the coast and out onto the beach and roll their tires into the water.

It's an 8 day ride, but in the middle there's a day where you can do a circular ride of 100 miles or less. You can even rest that day and not ride at all.

Here's the agenda: http://www.brag.org/brag.html#aboutbrag

Well, it's back to a "regular" work schedule for me tomorrow morning, so I should start getting ready for bed.

See you all in the morning.

Goodnight.

Here you dip your tire in the Missouri river at the beginning of the ride and the Mississippi River at the end.

Will we never get to page fifteen?  Will we have more than three posts in an hour?  Only time will tell and right now time is being mum on the subject.  I guess the meeting begins in twenty minutes or whenever everyone arrives.  I also have no idea how many people are coming.  And if there's anything I can do to make the meeting go faster than two hours, I will, of course, do so.

Yes.

It looks a little less crazy than RAGBRAI.  I think a lot of states have them now.

The latest Shirley Temple DVD box set arrived today. It doesn't officially go on sale until tomorrow, but Deep Discount got it to me a day early.

I really can't figure out how their shipping worls. Sometimes I get things remarkably quickly. Other times, I get a prompt shipping notice, and it takes almost two weeks to get here. Do they ships different DVDs from different points in the US? I assumed they had a central warehouse where they ship from.

At any rate, I cracked open the SHirley Temple DVD set, and took out one of my all-time favorites, THE BLUE BIRD. It looks smashing. Oh, perhaps a little dark in some shots, but the color is great and apart from a speck or two, very clean print with no scratches at all.

Yep, those introductory sequences are still the black and white ones we've been seeing for years. I guess the color separations have forever been lost. I don't think that early portion was meant to copy THE WIZARD OF OZ, especially since the end sequences after the children return are still in color.

Next, I watched another episode of THE WILD WILD WEST - "The Night of the Raven." This was another of the popular Dr. Loveless episodes with Michael Dunn doing his usual excellent job as the evil doctor.

Phyllis Newman also guest starred as an American Indian princess captured by Dr. Loveless so her tribe would declare war on the US.

At one point, Dr. Loveless sings a song in harmony with his female accomplice, but though it's clearly Michael Dunn doing his own singing, I'd be willing to bet Phyllis Newman dubbed the voice of the female accomplice. It sounded just like Phyllis.

Damn! The remote to my DVD player has vanished overnight and I'm fighting paranoia that someone's been in the apartment.  The damned thing couldn't have gone far so it's either the ghost or my absent mind.  So where the hell is it???

'24' returned to gripping form tonight with a very tense episode with a trigger happy Vice-President anxious to retaliate against the Middle East by launching a nuclear attack.

I meant to watch more MAUDE episodes tonight, but got swept up in THE THREE MUSKETEERS on TCM instead.  I have to say I was quite taken with it.  I liked how it turned from lighthearted adventure to tearjerking high drama.

Who was the actress who played the spying lady-in-waiting?

I ended by evening by finishing the first disc in THE WILD WILD WEST set, "The Night of the Big Blast." Two famous female guest stars in this one: Ida Lupino and Patsy Kelly. Now there's a funny duo! Of course, they had separate stories in the episode and their paths barely crossed at all.

I had ordered the new JACQUES BREL from them in mid February and it didn't arrive until last week!  I'll be thinking twice about ordering anything from them if I'm in a hurry to get it.
