The Arts-Illiana Council of the Wabash Valley has just announced that Putnam County Playhouse has been given its award this year for Volunteer Service.

:)

It pays to keep those restrooms clean, I guess!

Is this the Putnam County reference in the title of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee?

As a gimmick, they should release the rights to the Spelling Bee musical first to theaters with Putnam in their names.

What would TCB say about those references to a clean john?

(And what is going on with my mind this A.M.?  Must be all that innuendo in COLOR PURPLE last night!)

Those here at HHW will be happy to know that, despite her split with singer John Mayer, actress Jessica Simpson is "very happy."

There were some interesting splits in the choreography of COLOR PURPLE.  Some cartwheels and flips as well.

Sounds like Putnam County Playhouse choreography to be sure.  ;D

No "innuendo" in Spelling Bee, though - just some frank way-out-there sexual talk.

Come to think of it, COLOR PURPLE is also pretty frank and out there with its sexual situations, only for the most part it's quite serious.

It felt like a "happening" being at the performance right after Fantasia had been annointed a spectacular new Broadway star.  Much more suited to the role than La Chanze was, although La Chanze's performance was tremendous.  But the glories of Fantasia's performance are its subtleties in character development, not particularly the expected vocal aspects - if you're going mainly for Fantasia's performance, I'd recommend sitting close, so if you have the choice between close on the side and further back in the center, I'd recommend close on the side.  Especially the audience right side, where she seems to have her best moments.

Lots of important staging going on in Color Purple in those side pockets of the stage - odd idea, distances the people on the other side, I'd imagine.

Saturday morning greetings!  A full day of information-waitressing's in store for me.

DR Danise - Our friends here at HHW have said so many eloquent and, I hope, comforting things to which I can only add a huge

and wishes for strength and comfort and some well-earned rest.

DR Singdaw - Graeters is a-may-zing.  I'm trying to concentrate on a Turtle Sundae while watching 3 police officers chase a suspect through the library  ::)

And the word of the day is: PARVENU!
A happy birthday to our sedate and understated DR Francois - no PARVENU he!

Good morning!

Very good this morning which should lead to a very delightful afternoon. I may get the chance to sit on my side porch and start to read HENRY VIII AND HIS COURT which I got from Amazon this week.

Yes, I've always hear them called "playoffs" as well.
