Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very pink, and now it is time for you to post until the gulled, diddled and cullied cows come home.

Sorry about the stupid neighbors, DR Cillaliz.

The inconsiderateness of others never ceases to astound me...

Yesterday, I saw two performances of the tour of Hairspray that came to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts...and let me say that they were fabulous!  Everyone was very good.  The girl playing Penny practically stole the show!  There was so much energy on the stage from everyone!  I am SO glad that I was able to see both shows! ;D

When I got home, the first thing I did was watch last week's Oprah episode with the cast of the soon-to-be-released musical movie "Hairspray."  Since I just saw the stage musical twice, it was VERY fresh in my mind.  But I'm already questioning a couple of "changes" that have been made for the movie.  One is that in the movie, Negro Day is cancelled.  This doesn't happen in the stage musical.  Does anyone know if this is from the original John Waters movie?  The other thing is that on the Oprah show, they showed a couple of clips of the song "Big, Blonde and Beautiful," and Velma Von Tussle attempts to seduce Wilber Turnblad.  WHAT??  I really hope that it all makes sense in the final picture. :-\

Later this morning, I might be going to brunch with my mom (or parents) at the Red Wind casino near Yelm...my sister called me and said that for the first time ever, my mom had an allergic reaction to a bee sting!!  She's fine now.  My dad was able to get her to the emergency room without any trouble.  I'll get the details when I go over there at 11:00 am.

After that, I'm supposed to go to my sister's to help put up a porch covering for her back yard.  And after that, I'm going (and staying) home!  I have some TV watching to do. ;)

I watched a bit of 36 CHINA that DR MBARNUM sent to me.  I didn't get to finish it, but it certainly had a LOT of great songs in it.

Fireworks on Memorial Day?  Jail time?  Fires?

Who said Iowa was a boring place?

I heard they even have baby showers there!  And attorneys with new offices AND cookbooks!

Good morning all. Mom and I have been telling my dad about the evening events, he slept through the whole thing.  Mom is going to call the owner of the house as soon as these people leave to tell her about it. The owner said if there are ever problem renters, she won't rent to them again

Has any DR ever attended the Indianapolis 500?  What is your favorite movie about the Indianapolis 500?

No.

Sunday morning greetings!

Has any DR ever attended the Indianapolis 500?

Yes, 1966, the year there was a huge accident on the start (minor injuries only, fortunately) that resulted in many changes in procedure that we still see today.  It happened right in front of us and was pretty frightening.  Although I don't follow racing in general, paying attention to the Indianapolis 500 is a family tradition I've inherited from my mother's side of the family.

Probably some home movies taken by my dad, back in the 1960's.  We'd spend time in Indianapolis with my grandmother and my parents and aunt and uncle would go to the race.  We'd also go to qualifications.  I'll have to ask my mom if those movies are still around.

As I was having a bit of breakfastt, I was thinking how pleasant and calm this long weekend was going to be. In 1984, I was writing charts for a cruiseline entertainment company and I had a late arrival of several big charts on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to be scored for the copyist by Tuesday morning.  I believe I got no more than 2-3 hours of sleep a night for the next 4 days, turned the charts in on Tuesday by 9 am, and had a mini-nervous breakdown.  I wonder how much that angst on a holiday weekend contributed to the breakup of my last romance?

In 2000, I was scoring TONIGHT AT 8:30 for the Williamstown Theatre Festival over the Memorial Day weekend and I developed an earache in my right ear.  By Sunday morning my ear was swollen shut but it kept draining and the pain was unbearable.  Since I couldn't se a doctor until Tuesday, I spent the weekend writing and chewing Tylenol tablets.  In hindsight, I wonder why I simply didn't go to an emergency room. I guess the job was more important to me.

Yep, this weekend seems a breeze.  So far.
