What do you give to the lady who has given
All her life and love to you
What do you give to the reason you are livin'
I could window shop the world
Before I'm through

Mama, a rainbow
Mama, a sunrise
Mama, the moon to wear
That's not good enough
No not good enough
Not for Mama

Mama, a palace
Diamonds like door knobs
Mountains of gold to spare
That's not rich enough
No not rich enough
Not for Mama

Mama, a life time crowded with laughter
That's not long enough
Not half long enough

What can I give you
That I can give you
What will your present be
Mama, young and beautiful
Always young and beautiful
That's the Mama I'll always see...
That's for Mama with love from me.

Edisaurus - the tech rehearsal is for The Party Animals, the performance is for the reading of the musical.  Party Animal performance is on Sunday.

And a
Happy birthday to DR Cason's Heather. Though they both seem to have dropped off the face of the earth! I guess Mr. Cason is busy w/rehearsals for Cabaret and Heather sits in Arizona awaiting his return, unaware of the multiplying birthday wishes at this here site.

Happy birthday to DR Jose's mother Carmelita. The Filipina with the Mostest on the Ball. I know it doesn't scan but it's Sunday morning.

We will soon be out. We will go to Housing Works to drop off a couple of donations. We will then head to Bed, Bath and Beyond to look for a new window fan. If BBB has nothing we will head up to K-Mart at Penn Station.

For some reason Bed, Bath and Beyond seem to carry almost exclusively the Holmes brand fans. I have had two of them and as far as I'm concerned Holmes products are crap with an electric cord. I've had nothing but trouble with both of the fans, which is why we need a new one. Anyway, moving on, it's beautiful in New York City today. It was very hot yesterday but less so today.

Last night I saw Crazy Mary at Playwrights Horizons. It's a new A.R. Guerney play starring Kristine Nielsen and Sigourney Weaver. It's an excellent show, well written and beautifully acted especially by Ms. Nielsen. She is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. She has done many of Mr. Durang's plays. She, Ms. Weaver and Mr. Durang all were part of the Yale School of Drama. I forget how tall Ms. Weaver is, plus she wears boots with heels!

Ms. Nielsen works a lot after looking at her bio but she should work more and be more well known (although I think in the NY theatre community she is well known) because she is SO good.

BK,
Surely you know that I was mightily E&T for a couple weeks (AND you know why) and I have not yet caught up on two weeks of notes or posts (though trying earnestly). I do hope you'll forgive me for missing your comments on VENUS. I will make sure I read EVERY WORD!!!

(Would you turn the bitch-slap machine off now, please?)

BK, is it unusual to have a tech rehearsal after you've started performances?

Amy, I believe the tech rehearsal is for The Party Animals, not for the new musical.  The Party Animals is the kids' production.

spoo!

Aww... "Mama, A Rainbow"... One of my favorite songs.  :)

When I saw Lorna Luft make her nightclub debut in San Francisco (about a hundred years ago), she selected for her final encore, "Mama, A Rainbow" which in the final fade out became the notes to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."  It sounds kind of corny now, but was a beautiful moment at the time.

MusicGuy, are you feeling any better today?

Hi Tom......yes, somewhat.  And I send thanks to all for nice wishes, thoughts, and vibes yesterday.  And even though I'm a pretty strong "anti-pill" person, I broke down last night and took a couple of antihistamines before bed.  They happen to really affect me hard, but they will let me sleep for 9 or 10 hours.

So, I'm trying to start today and just look at one thing at a time, instead of letting myself get swamped with the thought of what all I have to deal with and accomplish in the near future.

Oh, and I finally managed to watch VENUS.  Loved the writing and the performances.  It was nice to see a mainstream film that dealt with issues of aging in a meaningful way.  Lovely all the way around.

Well, as I've said before...

It's very hard to be on HHW and NOT spend more than you otherwise would have!

As a result of the discussion the other day on films not yet released on DVD, I've now acquired The Ritz, The Boyfriend, and The Boys in the Band, all on VHS, which I will have to try to watch at some point soon.

DR Musicguy, sorry that MY BROTHER...NIKHIL was sort of a downer. It is not a happy movie in most ways....it is sort of the Indian AN EARLY FROST. But it is a lovely movie and the soundtrack is wonderful.

Hope you have a better day today!!
