RAUNCHY may be my least favourite number in it.

This did not make me want to see the show.

This did not make me want to see the show.

As others have indicated, it's not representative of the score [or show] as a whole.

I met my DH in 1987, not too long after I graduated college, so of course there haven't been any added since then...   :)

Tony television ratings:

Though the 2007 Tony Awards telecast did not beat out its broadcast competition, the three-hour event's 6.24 million total viewers did help CBS win the overall evening in the ratings.

According to Zap2it, the Tony Awards pulled in a 4.5 rating/8 share in its first hour, 4.2/7 the second and 3.8/7 in its last. A single ratings point represents roughly 1.102 million households; a share shows the percentage of televisions being used at the time.

Bolstered by the 7 PM airing of "60 Minutes" — which took first place with 6.1/12 — the network averaged a 4.7/8 share for the night. Not factored into the numbers are the cable viewers who tuned in to the finale of "The Sopranos" on HBO. (Those numbers will be available later in the week.)

The first hour of the 2007 Tony Awards placed behind the second hour of NBC's "Dateline," with 5.9/11. ABC's coverage of Game 2 of the NBA Finals (5.0/9) then assumed the lead at 9 PM (but the Tonys remained in second). At 10 PM, the awards telecast dropped to third behind ABC and NBC's "Law & Order: SVU."

Last year, the broadcast was viewed by 7.79 million, up 1.29 million from the previous year's 6.5 million.

This is from a Grandlad's 3rd grade teacher :)

Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization?

Answer: Princess  Diana's death.

Question: How come?

Answer: An English princess  with an Egyptian boy friend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, (check the bottle before you change the spelling), followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles; treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines. This is sent to you by a Canadian, using Bill Gates's technology, and you're probably reading this on your computer, that uses Taiwanese chips,  and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by Indian lorry-drivers, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, and trucked to you by Mexican illegals.....

That, my friends, is Globalization

I didn't mind seeing Audra as Lizzy to John Cullum's dad, but I jsut didn't like the jokey-ness between them.  Do they do that in the show?  "Old Maid" would have been a much better number, but I guess someone felt it might upstage Fantasia's big angst number.

So can someone tell me...why did Fantasia sing on the show??

Hmmm...a couple of real interesting items on eBay.  I would bid, but I'm afraid that all I'll wind up doing is raising the price.

Yes, I must agree. I ordered it based of the HighHolinessWizard's(HHW) recommendation; Woody snagged it and went to listen in his BR (real estate lingo) - soon he back plunking it into the LR player (interrupting Fox News, how rude). Next I ordered the film (another expense to blame on HHW).

der Brucer

I was going to post to you that the DVD I have is not anamorphic, but then decided to look it up on Amazon.com and see if -- MAYBE -- there had been a reissue.

It seems there HAS BEEN.  The cover is different from the one I purchased in the 1990s...ca 1996 or 1997.  The DVD being offered "new" was issued in 2004.

Now...if anyone has it, do you know it Disney went that extra mile and made it anamorphic?  Alas, "that" piece of info is missing, although the description does say it's widescreen.

The Color Purple had its World Premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. The Alliance Theatre received the Annual Regional Theatre Tony Award last night. Fantasia recently went into The Color Purple in the starring role and got excellent reviews. As a tie-in to Color Purple's continuing presence on Broadway and its beginnings at the Alliance Theatre they decided to have Fantasia sing a song from the show.
