Just had some really annoying things to deal with - I do wish life would run on a smoother line sometimes.

I did get a mug in the mail - from the place from where I purchased my sunglasses.

The NYMF guy is out of the office and has been all day - I just asked the gal to reiterate to him what I wrote in my e and left on his voice mail, so hopefully that will get to him and we'll be good to go - she did seem to recognize the title when I said it to her.

Speaking of Richard Kiley, another guilty pleasure musical film of mine: THE LITTLE PRINCE.

And, as others have mentioned, THE APPLE.

I feel NO guilt at all about THE LITTLE PRINCE; I find it charming.
DR Edisaurus and I are people of impeccable taste lately.

Have we mentioned another catastrophic transcription of stage musical to the screen:

THE WIZ.

A movie that is only watchable for the last half hour.

I hope FJL takes photos of the casino carpets on the east coast.

DR MusicGuy returns on July 1, I believe.

DR Laura, I visited www.bejane.com today. It's a site about women remodeling things. They have a whole gallery of floors in Europe or somewhere. Reminded me of your casino photos

Not necessarily.  I recently watched the whole thing.

THE WIZ is not an anamorphic DVD transfer, so it might have looked better if Universal had bothered to do an updated transfer.

I do love Lena Horne in the film.

At some point over the weekend, Starz broadcast THE NIGHT LISTENER. Yes, it's been out on DVD for months (bk wrote about it after he watched it), but I haven't seen it, and I'll probably do so tonight prior to the beginning of THE CLOSER.

I'm heading down now a bit earlier than usual. My mail had not come when I came upstairs, so hopefully there will be mail to read and then a few things to tinker with before settling in for the evening's viewing. I cleaned the dining room this morning, so at least I'm free of that chore.

So did I.
The charm THE WIZ only happens for me once Mabel King appears on the scene, followed by the ludicrous but lovable strip-tease ballet, Lena Horne and Diana Ross' one-take of "Home."

I thought I was socializing with my friend Kirk tonight, but the jerk hasn't called all day to confirm it!  I'm only bummed because he cancelled last Thursday and suggested tonight.  I agreed, so I don't know what's going on.

I'm waiting to hear from Joan and Boswell about our meeting time.  I suspect it will be around four - I'll go directly from there to the LACC Foundation meeting.

I do hope this LACC Foundation meeting isn't endless - they ARE providing dinner, which leads me to believe it will be - I'll bail after a while.

There's a cut song from 110 that I recorded with Mr. Ron Raines.  It's called Pretty Is.  Mr. Tom Jones got a little irked (not much) that Mr. Raines pronounced "pretty" as "purty".  I had to remind him that in Mr. Schmidt's demo recording, that's exactly how Mr. Schmidt pronounced it and I liked it so much that I had Ron do it.

Least favorite musicals - I'm sad to say that there are many MGM musicals that I'd put on that list.  Some of those just don't do it for me and never have - then again, things like Singin' In The Rain and The Bandwagon make up for the ones that don't.

I loathe Lost Horizon, but there's something about it that makes me watch it every now and then - I do like some of the score, too.

Obviously Mame.

I know this one will anger some of our dear readers, but 1776.  While I'm grateful that so many of the original company are in the film, for me, Mr. Hunt's direction is lumbering and awkward and everyone is playing to the balcony.  I think a good film could have been made but, again, for me, this one isn't it.

Hello, Dolly - there is NOTHING I like about the film version - I can tolerate Matthau and that's it.

Star - another one that will make some unhappy, but I couldn't stand it when it came out, and I can't even get through it now.  It was a shocking misfire back then, coming from that creative team.

Rent, The Producers, Dreamgirls - don't like any of 'em.

Oh, Doctor Dolittle - awful, terrible, some nice songs, but as a viewing experience - excruciating.
