Thanks for the GYPSY links, DR JOSE.  Interesting opinions.

I was under the impression that Mr Laurents had said no LuPone in NYC....because she did the show in Chicago a few years ago....but what do I know?

I'm watching a pretty bad movie called "Endless Love," starring Brooke Shields and Shirley Knight. It's a terrible movie, but there are a couple of really pretty men who more often than not are shirtless... (I think one of them is Tom Cruise).  How bad can it be?

All my paperwork for the week is done and now all I need do is pack for tomorrow. I'm heading out to the Hamptons tomorrow morning for a day at the beach with a bunch of people from my company at my boss' rental house. It should be fun.

DR Jose: Glad the party wasn't too awful.

DR FJL: Congrats!!

DR Julie: Welcome!

Crouton is awake and is now outside. That's all I have to say. Sorry.

Ah, "Endless Love".... Two hearts... Two hearts that beat as one...

-Actually, one of the first pieces of sheet music I remember buying.  -Although, I think the cover art had something to with that.  ;)

-And don't forget Richard Kiley too!  And Jimmy Spader, and Jami Gertz!

-And just what is Martin Hewitt up to nowadays?

Oh, even Robert Altman appears in that movie.

This "Endless Love" movie is truly awful. The hot guy in the wifebeater (that's only tucked into the front of his jeans - VERY sexy), nearly rapes Brooke Shields...pins her to the bed, repeating "You love me...you love me!," to which she succumbs and responds with, "David... David...Look at me. You're right...you're right! I love you..." and then makes a sound as if she's about to puke in his face just before she kisses him.

At least he's in the wifebeater.

Why is such a shirt called a wifebeater?

SPOILERS FOR A 26-YEAR OLD MOVIE AHEAD:

Uh oh...Brooke just found out that hot guy in the wifebeater was on the scene when her father was hit by a NYC taxi and then James Spader (Brooke's brother) attacked the hot guy, who is now fully clothed in a football raglan tee and corduroys, and then the cops showed up and dragged hot guy away. How did that happen?

Now Brooke and Shirley Knight are strolling in the snow, next to a lake, like you do in the middle of winter. Any moment now, I expect one of them will ask if the other ever has that not-so-fresh feeling...

Why is such a shirt called a wifebeater?

It describes the kind of person who stereotypically wears said shirts.

I'm listening to the mastered version of what I hope will be an upcoming Kritzerland release - our second filmmusic release, but also one that should appeal to all who love musicals - Michel Columbier's complete score (2 CDs) for Jacques Demy's virtually unknown film, Une Chambre En Ville.  I love this score so much and it's time it's heard and appreciated.  The sound is magnificent.
