DR Jose, Nick sent me an email that he was moving up to the role of Matt.  Goddaughter Charlotte has a crush on him, so I think I'll take her back to see the show before she leaves for college.

What time are we dining at Macy's on Friday? 6:30?

TOD

It's a lot bigger than I thought it was. It is in the final room of the Rembrandt Museum all by its lonesome. From floor to ceiling and wall to wall. HUGE!

Didn't Bela Lugosi once play a character named Dr. Orloff?

And now we have his namesake on HHW!!

Congrats to DR CILLA LIZ.

TOD: Favorite Museum: Musée d'Orsay

I also love the underground part of the Louvre that they excavated when they built Pei's glass pyramid.

Also, not a museum but an unusual exhibit of Impressionism:  Cathedrale d’Images in Les Baux.

Hieronymus Bosch: The Garden of Earthly Delights
Claude Monet: Impression: Sunrise
Van Gogh: Starry Night

Too many others to name! I have seen some of these in person...

Good morning!

Felt a bit cooler this morning than the last several mornings, but that won't last long. Another upper 80s day for us today.

I've always loved Picasso's GUERNICA. It moves me and shocks me in profound ways, unlike anything else I've ever seen.

Well, my favorite museum is the Museum of TV and Radio. If I lived in NYC, they would get SO sick of the sight of me.

Tonight is the second episode in Glenn Close's new series DAMAGES. Looking forward to seeing it.

Otherwise, I'll be DVDing it today. I'll finish ROYAL WEDDING which I began last night. Then, I'll move on to the last of the TV box sets I have here that need immediate attention: EIGHT SIMPLE RULES.

Yes, DR Matt H.  I spent a good, long time taking in the original when I was in Madrid.  Since 1992 it is no longer housed within the Prado.

I've seen so manty paintings, I can't really remember which ones I like the best,  I would suspect it is anything by Turner.

My favourite museum of all time was the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden, which I saw for the last time on my last trip to London back in November.  It has since been closed.  Despite an effort by the theatrical community of London, the Victoria and Albert Museum, under whose province it fell, felt that it could afford to keep it open and, of course, the government did nothing to help.

The Vickie and Al  is also a great museum.  And there is none greater than the British Museum.  One of my favourites, however, is the British Library, where one can see items of great literary significance like the Magna Carta, Gutenberg Bibles, Scott's diary, and bits of Dickens and Carroll and Joyce and other great masters of literature.

I've always had a fondness for the Cincinnati Art Museum up in Eden Park.

My favorite artist is Van Gogh -- Cafe Terrace at Night, Country Houses, some of his Iris paintings, Starry Nights, etc. etc. etc.

Monet -- Impression Sunrise (good taste DR Edi!), etc. etc., etc.

Michelanglo -- The Sistine Chapel (maybe doesn't count since you can't hang it on a wall, but it was his canvas...)

Salvador Dali -- I don't know that I'd ever want to buy his stuff for my house -- but I find his stuff whimsical, intriguing and interesting to study/look at -- Vesliges Ataviques, etc.

My favorite museum is the Witte in San Antonio, Texas -- mainly cause I grew up haunting that one -- strictly that personal connection because it's not some big fancy one.  When people came to visit, it was on the sight-seeing list to take them to, right up there with the Alamo. Artwork, collections -- and they had this jewel collection -- and this one giant diamond on display in a case back in this dark room where it glowed under this light. My cousin Charlie and I always plotted and planned how someone could steal it -- our plan was very elaborate, involving a helicopter, coming down a rope, crashing through this giant vertical window outside the room, trying to beat the alarm and closing door, etc. -- ala James-Bondish-style. A while back someone walked in, jammed a lawn chair in the door (like those chain ones that close off stores in a mall after hours), smashed the case, and walked out with it -- calmly, cooly ... and successfully.  Most uncreative (my cousin and I thought!) -- and disappointing to think that giant diamond gleaming in the dark was gone after all those years ...

...and disappointing to think that the security guard didn't wonder about someone carrying a lawn chair around inside a museum...guess he was expecting some wild scheme like Charlie's and mine ...
