Sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to board - did you know that can be sung to the tune of: Standing on the corner watching all the girls go by

Now THAT'S trivia.  (Still not getting this week's trivia answer, though.)

If I didn't have to wear my battery pack for my microphone, I could die twenty feet off a cliff backwards down a couple of stairs AND fall out of the box when I make my entrance....oh well.

Haven't worked on the trivia question myself, DR FJL.....

Hmmmmmmmm...

Travel vibes AND good seat companion vibes for MR BK.....wave as you fly over Indiana.

If we have your flight number and airline, we can watch you fly in real time on the inner-nit.

TOD for all DR's.

When was the first time you went to NYC?  How old were you?  Why did you go?  What impressed you most?  What surprised you most?  How did you get there?  Do you still have any "souvenir" or remembrance you got while you were there?

My souvenir of my first visit to NYC is where they cut the umbilical cord.

We've actually only had one guess and it was from someone who never plays - it was a pretty good try, but it was the wrong season, although a surprising number of answers fit anyway - but not all.

TOD for all DR's.

When was the first time you went to NYC?

So long ago, I barely remember

How old were you?

0

Why did you go?

After nine months of hanging around the old place, it was beginning to feel a bit confining.

What impressed you most?

The light.  Much brighter than I'd anticipated.

What surprised you most?

Doctor giving me a smack.  That's a hell of a thing

How did you get there?

I took the tunnel (bk, too, will be taking a tunnel)

Do you still have any "souvenir" or remembrance you got while you were there?

One souvenir got yanked away from me right after I arrived.  Now all I've got is some certificate

Good morning!

We're in for a hot day today. I got up around 6:30, and it wasn't very cool outside when I went to get the newspaper. Glad to be staying inside doing my usual Sunday chores today.

I was 8 years old the first time I went to NYC, taken during my Christmas holidays by my aunt and uncle as our Christmas present from them. My brother and I took the train from Charlotte to NYC a day or two after Christmas (they were already in NYC). Got on at midnight and arrived at some point late the next morning.

They wanted to show my brother and me New York, so we did many of the usual tourist things: Empire State Building, subway, Macy's, etc. We went to one Broadway show - MY FAIR LADY. I wanted to see THE MUSIC MAN, but tickets were impossible to get. On New Year's Eve, we went to see and hear Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Symphony at Carnegie Hall, and then endured the madness of Times Square at midnight. We then drove back home the next day in their car.

I bought a little metal statue of the Empire State Building, and I still have the MY FAIR LADY Playbill. I haven't seen that little statue in a long time.

I've spent the last couple of days in Louisville at the Galt House at the Edgar Rice Burroughs Dum-Dum. Dum-Dum in ape language (according to ERB) means the gathering of the bull apes where they all dance and screech at the moon.  Most of the "Bull Apes" in the Burroughs Bibliophiles these days are rather grey and we allow She-Apes as well.  But the fandom is getting older...I guess all things Tarzan and Burroughs' other creations do not thrill youngsters as they once did.   I went mainly to pick up a few souvenirs for Harlan Ellison and to see a few old friends like Denny Miller who was in attendance and, as always, it was great to see him and his wife, Nancy.  We had several laughs.  And I had to sign several copies of my script for the still unproduced PRINCESS OF MARS which was being sold there.

Today I'm going to be watching a screener of a movie that opened in large cities in late July but hasn't opened yet in most places in the country: a documentary about Iraq called NO END IN SIGHT.

Tonight, I'll be watching '300' on Blu-ray and should be finished with it by the time ENTOURAGE comes on.
