"Rescued" birds are also at the zoo - Pelicans and Penguins.

Pelicans are quite common here in Melbourne.

Those ARE loverly photos from the zoo. I was about to say how loverly the reticulated giraffes were, but it turns out they're Rothschild giraffes... Phew! A near zoological faux-pas barely missed!

Here's a picture of a tiger that I took through glass at the Bronx Zoo last year:

We get different kinds of pelicans here. But they are similar.

Looks like a cormorant, too, wanting to be fed.

Yoga with Alejandro was, as usual, quite fantastic.

And to celebrate, here's a photo of a turtle that I took through glass at the Bronx Zoo:

There was a group of youngsters a year or so ago who attempted (successfully) to spread a story about Pelicans stealing babies. Put it on the internet and people will believe it. They wanted to see how far the story would circulate.

It is my mission in life to own a pair of Cherry Coke pants. They do exist. They do. They show up on eBay every once in a while. But they're always extra large. I think that's the only size they ever made. If I gained enough weight to fit into the pants, I wouldn't fit into any of my Cherry Coke shirts.

What am I to do??

Well, suicide seems premature and a tad drastic.

Here's a close-up of one of the giraffes (don't know if it's a reticulated or a Rothschild) from the Louisville Zoo...

I think there are some decent Web site links etc for Melbourne Zoo - Australia's oldest.

And even though they're frightfully agressive and loud, I still can't help but think peacocks are some of the prettiest animals around...

From the Louisville Zoo, al fresco:

I am listening to Lawrence Welk on my iPod (Artaxerxes).

My foot is asleep.

I am feeling peckish.

I associate peacocks with the Dirk Bogarde vesion of "A Tale Of Two cities".

A few years back we had a peacock sitting on our next door neighbour's roof.
It had escaped from its home a few miles away!

I told my friend, Amy, who used to work at the San Francisco Zoo, that I thought that Peacock Blue - as in the actual color of the feathers - was one of the most beautiful blues in the world, and she mocked me! Still, I think it's true...
