I'm doing a load of laundry, whilst listening to Gal Costa sing Jobim, a live album with full orchestra.  Yummy.

I am drinking the last of the Diet Cokes - must buy some more tomorrow, but have two half-litre bottles to tide me over.

I didn't REALLY need to eat that cucumber roll, but I'd only had two sandwiches and a little potato salad earlier today.  And I jogged, baby, I jogged.

I think I'll open Ye Olde iTunes tomorrow and import about ten Bossa Nova CDs so I can have a little fix should I need it whist in NY.  Certainly, the key Jobim albums, a couple compilations, Joao Gilberto with Ogerman and Mandel, and like that - in fact, I may just start doing that right this minute.

And all of my paperwork balanced out perfectly this week. Not even one little tweak to make it work out. AMAZING! And, though our houses felt significantly smaller this week, my sales only dropped by $600 for the week. Not too bad...could be worse!

How did you write off your "TAKE THIS, BITCH, AND GO!" T-shirt?

But first, a sampling of what Variety has to say about the revival of Grease!, which opened on the Broad Way this very eve...

"It's hardly a minority opinion to say one of the lessons learned from the rocky Bush administration is that America doesn't always make the most farsighted choices. That forlorn conclusion is amplified loud and clear in the dispiritingly bland Broadway revival of "Grease." While the results of misguided casting decisions can't be compared to the impact of longterm political appointments, letting the people choose their own Danny and Sandy in this case does little to validate the democratic election process."

I could "argue" that the "people" did NOT choose this Danny and Sandy....a bunch of tweens text-messaged hundreds of votes each for their precious Slacker Danny and his equally lame Laura.  The judges helped, too.  And the judges were the creative talent "behind" the revival...and they got EXACTLY what they deserved.

That said, it will probably be an enormous hit.

"All Fall Down", of course!

Wonderful movie.

My evening's movie was "Barefoot in the Park", wonderful Gene Saks-directed adaptation of Neil Simon's Broadway play.

Fonda is great, but Cory Bratter is a bit "much" in this day and age.  She was quirky way back when, but ya just wanna slap her now.

Redford was extremely winning in recreating his stage role as Paul Bratter.

Mildred Natwick was a total HOOT!

And what a pleasure to see Mabel Albertson as Aunt Harriet...a very small cameo, actually, but Albertson always puts a smile on my face.

And Charles Boyer was the anti-Chevalier -- the suave Frenchman whom you knew was NOT in lifelong servitude to his mother.

Great Neal Hefti score.  And great New York photography.

When did 10:37 p.m. on a Sunday night become the witching hour at HainesHisWay.com?

Several folks at work will be back off vacation tomorrow.  The day should be noisier, if not busier.  We're in the August doldrums.

Busy work, but few crises (knock on wood).

By the way, Tommy:  When you get to my comment about spending my afternoon watching "The Way We Were", and you decide to post that this is YET ANOTHER film you despise, I'm going to be severely disappointed.

I trust you mean "The Way We Were"...and I could watch it any time.  It's set in the right time period, has great music and photography, and best of all, it has two beautiful actors giving the performances of their lives.

WONderful film!
