DR td - A couple of friends of mine saw "Eastern Promises" this weekend too, and raved about it.  *They also talked about Mr. Mortensen's "Viggo".  ;)

Our first official LAST STARFIGHTER review is in, and it's a rather mediocre review from Matthew Murray on Talkin' Broadway.  Matthew Murray says:

"The Last Starfighter remains the theatrical equivalent of Ms. Pac-Man: action, cut sequences, a great deal of fun, and dissolving into utter meaninglessness the instant you step outside. Such things are fine for an arcade game, where you never have to sacrifice more than a quarter. But with higher prices, higher stakes, and higher expectations in the theatre, it’s much more serious that this open-hearted show, despite all it wants to do and all it does right, never blasts off."

Clearly, Matthew Murray has voluntarily opened the door to our quoting this as:

"A GREAT DEAL OF FUN." - Matthew Murray, Talkin' Broadway

I just wonder why, if he actually had "a great deal of fun," he doesn't recommend the show.  Isn't there a place for an experience where you have a great deal of fun in the theater for two hours and then just leave it behind when you step outside.  We hope our show is more than that, but why wouldn't it be enough for a show to be a great deal of fun while it's going on but then not lasting afterwards?

Well... Since I do want to try to make it to the closing performance on Yellow Wood tomorrow - in less than ten hours - well....

Goodnight.

I wish I could have been there this weekend, but with school and the fundraiser I just couldn't swing it.

Safe and sound, thanks. Usual, you were the hostess with the mostest (coolies that is!)

Sunday, I got up and watched a a few recorded shows (I needed to delete some things off the DVR to make room for other things to record), then went to my sister's house in the early afternoon before rehearsal.  She bought a new island counter for what will become part of her soon-to-be renovated kitchen and I put it together.  It's heavy but it went together fairly easily (it's from Ikea).  However, I made a mistake and put the counter top on upside down! :( I assembled it upside down and didn't realize that there was a specific top and bottom to the wood top counter section until after I screwed the cabinets onto the counter top and we turned it right side up and saw the Ikea logo stamped in ink on what is now the top of the wood counter, which should've been hidden underneath.  AARRGGHH!!  I apologized profusely but HOPEFULLY it can be sanded out.  If not, I'm getting her a new counter. :-\

After that I went to our first music rehearsal for Night of the Living Dead! The Musical! (Tickets are available![/b])  It was...interesting.  We weren't given sheet music yet because it takes so long to print it out and our music director didn't have time.  The music director (who wrote the score) had to teach us the first big-ish song and the two reprises by rote.  Most of the performers in the show can't read music ::) so that was the frustrating part about the rehearsal.  Once I get the sheet music, I'll be okay.  Hopefully, we'll get it soon.

Hey - you're an ex-Cannibal, recently returned from Hell, now joining the Living Dead - does she expect you to have Jesus- carpentry skills!

If he printed on  paper instead of sheets, the process would go faster!

Well, we managed to survive the first leg of our trip - that is, the taxi ride to JFK and security...
My DM and I decided to just head over here (as we had to be out of our sublet by midnight...long story) and we've spent the past few hours down in the meat locker...I mean, main terminal.  However, we managed to sweat 'em out and now we are here in the food court of the JetBlue terminal.

BK and BJ, however, are a different story.
