Hi, y'all.  Thank you so much for the wishes--it's such a wonderful way to wake up.

Today is literally my first "day off" (not really--more about that in a mo) in probably 3 weeks.  We managed to kind of sleep in until 9-ish, which is unheard of around here.

The more part is that I am playing the dedication of a Habitat for Humanity complex here this afternoon.  It was just too much of a mitzvah to pass up, even though it's out in the boondocks.

Tomovoz:  my rose hasn't bloomed for so long, I can't remember when.   ;D

JR:  I always wondered what FF was typing in that picture.   ;D

DR Slowthaw (isn't that right?):  wow, that takes me back to my misspent youth.   :o

MBarnum (and Jose):  the horror (HORROR) of our remodeling project is that Betsy is sans stove, so no cake at least until next week.  HORROR.

However, I did partake of the frigging biggest slice of pizza I've ever had last night at a gig, whose cheese content alone probably pushed my cholesterol into 4 digits.

Speaking of mutant pizza slices, I assure you the WOD is not my nickname.

Hi Jeff.  Thanks for the caulking tips, it worked.  It didn't dry completely clear, but good enough. :D

Are you still sane over there with the remodeling?  We haven't heard any screaming.  I hope that means things are running fairly smoothly.

I keep seeing a "Page Cannot be Found" at the top of every page of the HHW Site.

Is it my browser blocking something, or is something wonky on the HHW end?

There used to be Google Ads at the top of each page.  *That's* what is showing up as Page cant' be found.  :)

Perhaps Bruce has cancelled his account but not removed the code?

Jane, just got your email.  Thanks.  :)

We're (hopefully) in the home stretch of the remodeling.  The cabinets are mostly in (just need doors), the walls are painted, finish electrical is mostly done.  They're resanding the floors next week (the dogs need to live in the basement--oy), then they move the appliances in, hook everything up, and then do the countertops and we're done.  Except for the final coat of whatever they put on the floors, which will happen week after next.

I see Google Ads (a Sixth Sense reference).  Why don't you?  (Cue spooky music).

Weird.

I've got two computers. On this one, I've never seen the Google Ads, but I know they exist because on my laptop, I can see them. But now, on this computer, I still can't see them, but I do see the "This page cannot be found" box."

If you can't see that, but instead see the ads, well...then I must be in the Twilight Zone....

Michigan Cop Takes Aim to Save Skunk With Head Stuck in Salad-Dressing Jar

CARROLLTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. —

These are the salad days for one lucky skunk.

Officer James Kellett said a skunk whose head was stuck in an empty salad dressing jar wandered into the police station's parking lot Thursday in Carrollton Township, near Saginaw and about 80 miles north of Detroit.

Kellett wanted to serve and protect the white-striped weasel, but wasn't interested in any resistance — spray or otherwise. So he grabbed a BB gun used in hunters' safety courses and shot at the jar from about 40 feet.

The shots cracked and shattered the jar, leaving a glass collar around the skunk's neck. With its head free, the skunk ran off.

"I didn't want to use deadly force, and it is a residential area," Kellett told The Saginaw News. "The way he was when he took off, he was able to eat, breathe and spray — and do anything else skunks like to do."

Kellett didn't get much in the way of gratitude, but he's grateful the skunk didn't spray. And the makers of T. Marzetti's salad dressing are sending the officer coupons good for free dressing as a reward.

Well, I didn't see Ginny but I did see the back of her head. The lunch for Ginny's conference was catered (nothing fancy, just sandwiches, pasta salads, etc.) and they told us on the 3rd floor that there was extra and to come on down for free food. I went down and gobbled and saw the group of Librarians in the main room listening raptly to the speaker. I kept sending Turn Around vibes to Ginny but she was listening too intently to the speaker.

That skunk story has an aroma....

If its head is stuck in the jar, surely it would have run out of oxygen and died long before it wandered into the parking lot.

But even if it played as told, there's still a skunk with a "collar" full of jagged glass that is going to do something to it as time goes by.

Yes, I've got Norton Utilities, which blocks ads of certain kinds, such as banner ads. I can still see Google Ads if they're in the body of a website - as for example on my own site - but when they're at the top of a page, whatever code is used for that - renders them invisible to me.

Annoyingly, libraries have software that blocks google ads where-ever they appear, so that none of those poor schmucks can see the ads on my site, click on 'em, and make me millions of dollars...

Well...dozens of pennies, anyway...

All right!  I'm 'fessing up!

Last week, for the first time since the second episode of its first season (two years ago), I watched an episode of "Numbers" ...  and LOVED IT!

Rob Morrow, the execrable, has been subdued into a "regular" member of the cast rather than the "leading" member of the cast, it seems.  I watched again last night, and it was gratifying to see that most of the cast got time equal to his, if not moreso.

And it was another really GOOD episode.

Live and learn.

Listening to the new Broadway recording of Grease starring the winners of "You're the One That We Want" or whatever.  I wasn't giving much hope to the winners but was banking more on the supporting cast, all of which I've never heard of - has anyone???  Anyhow, I'm quite disapointed on the lack of energy, even when they try you can tell they are trying.  And just how many times does this show need to be orchestrated??  Blech, I prefer the clunky original Broadway cast recording, which is how the show should be!!!

Morrow is the least interesting member of the cast.

Once the skunk got its head thru the jar opening, there would be lots of room for to enter around his furry neck.

I suspect the skunk can live to a ripe old age with a jagged glass coller (though necking with mama skunk could be problematical). Better to shot the glass than to shoot the skunk!
