CGI - hmmmm

I like THE INCREDIBLES, but I don't usually go to CGI films.

If A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is CGI, I vote for that.

RE: last night's DANCING WITH THE STARS.

My favorite dances of the night were Helio's second dance, and mel's second dance.

I was sort of disappointed with jennie, and cameron and especially marie. But i think at times edyta's (cameron's partner) choreography can be weak. IN turn i think julianne is an unbelievable choreographer, which i think helps a lot!

I think marie will go. But it wouldn't surprise me to see jennie or cameron go either.

I really liked last night's show. I love it when they show us what happened in the last few months (before the premiere in september).

I was especially interested in finding out what happened to peter. And the parts with adam were also interesting.

It sort of confused me that the haitian was with elle and bob.  But i was glad he tried to help peter.

I was very surprised at what happened to DL (since i had assumed he had died 4 months ago). I loved watching him as a firefighter. And the odd thing is i never cared for him. But i actually started liking him!

And i don't like the brother/sister but the stuff at the wedding actually held my attention.

no hiro. :(

no claire. :(

Interesting that nathan was so hurt and how he got healed.

Nightmare and Corpse Bride were both stop-action animation, not CGI

Some courageous Canadians do it
Even Jewish Boys and Girls do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Good morning!

Not as cold this morning, and a warmish afternoon with temps in the mid-70s. A very beautiful day. They're saying we mat get rain showers tomorrow. We'll see.

Before I forget, I have a question for all you DRs: when it comes to car rentals, which company do you prefer?  I rented my car yesterday from Hertz and I am appalled at the cost for the week!

I usually shop around for rental cars on the internet and reserve before I go.  I've had pretty good luck with Alamo and I rented from National once without any problems. I've found that Hertz is usually the highest or close to it.

My favorite traditional animation is SLEEPING BEAUTY.

I also think FANTASIA is a masterpiece of drawing, but I find it difficult to get through the entire movie without feeling sleepy. Every individual segment is astonishingly animated and beautifully scored, but the whole thing is a too rich dessert.

And all of the usual suspects from the 1940s: PINOCCHIO, BAMBI, and DUMBO. It doesn't get any better than those films. And BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE LITTLE MERMAID, and THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME feature the best of modern animation techniques.

DR Cillaliz - Your website looks great, both on my eMac at home and my PC here at work!

Thanks Ginny.

Der Brucer, you missed a typo.  My friend Gretchen found it.

MBarnum - congrats you were the first, other than me testing it.  I'm glad I can get email all the way from Oregon.

Thanks to all for the compliments and for finding the errors.  I really mean that, I was in a hurry to get the site running so I figured once through my friends and all the errors would be found without another delay in the site going online.  Hopefully Tim will get them all fixed today (I'm sure he will) and I'll be good to go

As for CGI films, THE INCREDIBLES is my favorite, a mind-blowing mix of beautiful computer graphics and the most interesting animated characters in a long time. I think both TOY STORY films also feature characters that are SO identifiable which always lends a further dimension to any animated film.

I agree. DR Jennifer, we're going to have to find some disagreement in TAR or our lively debate will go by the wayside  ;D

I'll watch CSI: MIAMI as I cook and prepare lunch today (I'm fixing spaghetti and meat sauce). Then, it's back to THE LADY VANISHES to watch the second disc in the set.

Looking forward to new episodes of BONES and HOUSE tonight. I hope NIP/TUCK holds my attention more this week than it did last week. If not, I may have to drop it from the viewing schedule (even if Bradley Cooper continues taking his shirt off).

Elmore, we've had good luck with National's Emerald Isle club (you just have to sign up, there's no fee).  You get to pre-choose your car, don't have to wait in line, and everything's ready for you when you arrive so that you just go out, get in your car and leave.

I personally loved, loved, loved Meet the Robinsons--especially after having sat through the last several Disney releases.  :)  I think it's Disney's new strategy--a market war of attrition.

Of course NIGHTMARE is stop motion.....I couldn't think of the term.

DR MATTH - Fantasia puts me to sleep, too.  And when you told the story yesterday about the SOUND problem, my heart stopped.....been there....and like you the first thing I think is:  I broke it!
