A VIEW FROM LAURA_LAND

The area near the Utah-Arizona line is a place of strange and delightful rock formations. In the Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness, the renowned Wave formation is made of Jurassic-age Navajo sandstone -- 190-million-year-old sand dunes turned to rock. Stacked one atop another, the dunes calcified in vertical and horizontal layers.

Hi folks.  Just got back from lunch with Thelma and a doctor follow up visit.

All is going well execpt for this &(%!@ cough.  The doctor said he hears a crackle in my chest.  Nothing really bad but enough that I have to back on the antibiotic and rest, rest, rest!  He was going to let me go for a few weeks but now he wants to see me again next Tuesday.  Sigh.

I can go back to work on Monday but he may change that after he sees me on Tuesday.

I wonder if that was the same "nervous tick" I developed just seconds after meeting DR MBarnum?

When you met DR MBarnum, your eyes lit up like a pinball machineon "tilt!" I noticed no ticks; you were too busy with the Russian hands and Roman fingers.

DR DerBrucer, I am sorry to hear about the chaos surrounding you at the present.  I get the impression that no matter what good advice you give, it will be ignored, so I'd try to be the calm center and let the events play out around you.  In families and deaths, it's always messy, I've come to believe, and your situation seems fraught.  I wish you the best.

Back from the post office - the stupidity of certain people never ceases to amaze me - they are completely unprepared for their visit, the poor postal people have to stand there and explain every option of shipping and cost (easily findable online), while a long line of people who ARE prepared must stand there and wait while these people must ponder every option and ask inane questions.  I gotta tell you.

Well...some people don't have computers.... :)

AND YOU THINK YOUR WORKPLACE RULES ARE STRICT!

Then there's the female teacher in the Sudan who is going to be whipped because she allowed her students to name a teddy bear Mohammed... you woulda thought the kids would've known better even if she didn't..

and that the parents could have just gone to her and say, hey, you've got to change the name as its impolite...instead of reporting her to the authorities...

But when religion is the law of the land...
