True DR elmore, and I have seen plenty that changed the appearance for the better.    I've seen some you would never know, they just look "rested"

DR Laura, you must buy the current issue of Believer Magazine (one of my faves.) It has a whole centerfold of Las Vegas carpet patterns, and an article about them too. I'm sure you'll recognize some of them!

Thank you one and all  ((hugs))  The next several days will be rough.

I am at my parents house. Their dog is literally lost. She was vrey attached to my father and I have been paying her alot of attention since I got here. It is eerily quiet in the house, yet strangely I feel at peace. Yes, I do miss him terribly but I know he is not suffering.  I am glad we honored his wish of letting him die at home. He did not want to die in the hospital. I truly think it would have been grumbles from the other side if he went to a hospital.

The day was not with out a few giggles...

Tom, wea re including Blackland Farmer in the funeral and rousing number for Reynolds (ND) Rockets! the prayer service is on friday and the funeral is on saturday.

"Try Me" (especially the revival version that BK did) makes me smile.    Did I include "Star Carol" by Peggy Lee in the list that that makes me cry?  It's so simple and sweet, and she does it so perfectly.

MusicGuy does a Christmas Carol Fantasy that thrills me to this day.   Although we are no longer together, his music still just stuns me.    What a gift.  

Don Cornell's "Hold MY Hand" always makes me smile.

Oh, and Percy Faith's version of Theme from "A Summer Place"  always brings a smile.

one of the funny moments came when we took out a bottle of coke and we could not get the cap off... we tried a knife to slit the plastic cap...

it brought back memories the night my dad and I accidently blew up a bottle of ginger ale....  The bottle of ginger ale covered the ceiling, floor, cupboards, counters...

As of tonight I am officially on the board of the Orpheum Theater Society.  This is the 80th anniversary of the theater so it should be an interesting year.  We had a great time a 30 minute meeting and 2 hours of talking a little wine and a lot of great conversation. It will be a fun group to be a part of.

Lengthy phone calls prevented me from being able to watch NAKED BOYS SINGING tonight. Instead, I watched the BONES episode that was going to be rerun tonight, only I watched the version on the DVD set. It was a good episode with a former friend of Jack Hodgins being killed. Stephen Fry guest starred in the episode.

I can only comment on Blu-ray, and only on the Blu-rays I've seen.

For live action: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III

For animation: CARS

But there are SO many worthy runners-up with picture window video and astounding high def audio: CASINO ROYALE, LIVE FREE AND DIE HARD, THE FIFTH ELEMENT, CHICAGO, DREAMGIRLS, THE SEARCHERS, and, of course, PLANET EARTH (but only in the video realm; it's audio is good but not great). RATATOUILLE would be the worthiest animation runner-up.

I have read others who have said KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and/or BLACK HAWK DOWN are the best Blu-rays. I have the former but haven't gotten to it yet. I have no desire to ever see BLACK HAWK DOWN again (though it was an outstanding movie, just not my cup of tea more than once).

I watched RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER in the remastered high def broadcast tonight. They have really cleaned this 1964 stop motion animation trifle up surprisingly well. You could certainly see lots of high def detail on the characters, and one creature made with a sock was so clear you could see the weave clearly in the sock.

They hadn't try to repurpose the sound much. Still sounded tinny. I didn't check to see if it was even in stereo.

I had planned to watch NCIS tonight, but it was a rerun from last season, the same as the box set that I watched a couple of months ago, so I didn't want to see it again. Instead, I watched another MURDER SHE WROTE episode. It had a good guest star line-up: Kevin McCarthy, Nannette Fabray, Maxwell Caulfield (gorgeous as usual), and Jerry Orbach once again playing Harry McGraw. When he and Angela work on a case together, it's always a good time.

BOSTON LEGAL tonight had Denny in trouble as usual needing Alan to bail him out, an interesting case for Shirley, and the writers are finally doing something with Lorainne other than making her give Alan a case of apoplexy.

Nice to see Loretta Devine on the show as a judge. As usual  Henry Gibson played another judge. Stephen Culp played a gay lawyer tonight.
