Thanks to DR JoseCanYouSee for refreshing his posts from Dec. 13 and Dec. 16 re: iPod Shuffles.

Obviously, I've missed a bunch of things.  Dec. 13 is a lost day for me, since my flight left at just before midnight Dec. 12 and I didn't arrive until 11 a.m. Dec. 13.  I slept most of that afternoon.  I was bound to miss something.

It's a pretty day, thus far.  The "rain" isn't due in until this evening.

"Roll back the plains,
There's too much sky for me...."

Today's song of the day recalled "A Million Miles Away Behind the Door"...and the lyric above is rather poignant, too.

I'm always amazed at how much "sky" there is to see down here in this part of South Carolina.  It's not flat here, but it's not overly "hilly", either.  The landscape rolls...has its highs and lows...but the sky is omnipresent and dominates everything you see.

It can be overwhelming at times.

I keep checking my e-mail and seeing Amazon.com has "shipped" certain items I'd pre-ordered.

It's rather going to be like Christmas "twice" next week when I return to Oakland and pick up my mail.

TOD:  One of my favorite albums to relax to...and to become melancholy with...is Phoebe Snow's first album "Phoebe Snow."

From start to finish, it is perfection.

Phoebe has worked with my former longtime housemate ("the enigmatic jazz guitarist who lived in our basement") and collaborator John Stowell.  He loves her.  I seem to remember she has a special needs child, if I'm not mistaken.

BK, I'm sure you probably know this already, but there are two Ogerman/Brecker albums.

Can you post the catalog info for the CD of Latin Rock?  I can't find it online anywhere.  Thanks.

Thursday morning greetings!  Back at work today, fortunately still sounding enough like Tallulah Bankhead to demonstrate that I really was sick the past few days.

Our DS Rob and his girlfriend arrived from Michigan last evening and will be with us until Christmas morning.  Tomorrow my mom is expecting my sister and her husband (from Michigan) and their daughter (from Illinois).  Nice to have family gathering for the holiday.

I spent some time yesterday perusing my Man from UNCLE set.  It was interesting comparing the color pilot with the b&w broadcast version.  The color pilot comes in at slightly over an hour, and it was fascinating to see the trims they made, and the scenes they reshot to bring the show down to running time.  Also, there's a different "Mr. Waverly" (not even the name they use) in the pilot.  And for some reason, they renamed the "fake" character that Pat Crowley portrays.  In the color version, she's "Mrs. Van Essen".  In the broadcast version, it's "Mrs. Van Every" or something like that.  I had noticed in the b&w version (which I watched first) that they had looped all of those references.  I can't for the life of me figure out why--was there a real Mrs. Van Essen who worked for UNCLE?  ;)

He was off getting bitchslapped by his dentist.

No cavities, though!  :)

Good morning!

Did seem quite as cold this morning, but I slept later than usual, so perhaps that's why. The sun has been peeking in and out of the clouds all morning. Right now, it's kind of gray outside.

Good morning, all!  What the hell happened to the site this morning?  I finally gave up with it and went on to other challenges.  And now here we are.

I've got some writing on the preface to "Lady of the Sliipper" to work on today and a couple of things to wrap before tomorrow.

I had peculiar dreams last night: something about Miami University 30 years ago, and this got me wondering: why is it all my dreams are in the past? It's always college settings, or family events and places.  It may be a nightmare with a psycho killer in a dormitory or the Blair Witch in my Aunt Lois' back yard of her farm near Columbus, OH, or forgetting lines in a summer theatre production, but I swear I never dream about friends or events from the past 30 years of my life in Manhattan.  Oy!

I just couldn't log on for about 3 hours. I'm exaggerating.  Looking at the clock, I'd guess about 2 hours.

I listen to CDs of Leroy Anderson musical pieces when I want to relax and chill out with music. I have a couple of them and really love his stuff. We used to play a lot of it in concert band, and I played several for piano recitals down through the years.

I also have the last 35 minutes or so of HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS.

I certainly thought so yesterday morning when I logged on and there were already 107 messages for the day.

I have another dinner/gift exchange tonight, but thankfully, the only show I'll need to record is SUPERNATURAL since I  have missed all the shows during their first run this season.

I'm going to head down now to check the mail, clean the bedroom areas (didn't get to that this morning due to a longer sleep than usual), and then make a light snack in preparation for tonight's feast.

I think it was just the multiple personalities of DR SY trying to connect simultaneously.
