IMHO - Totally inconsiderate.  A friend would discuss the option (I would have thought).

After discussion with my Sister and her daughter (re my daughter's children), and with DP's mother, I have now chosen to give "living gifts" ie  sponsorship of animals at the zoo.  The kids get some sense of "ownership" etc and My mother-in-law thinks it is delightful that she has a Red panda!  My niece's children have everything they need (and more) in terms of clothes, toy and books etc.

The kids can choose their own animal to sponsor in future years.
(It also means visits to the zoo will be on the agenda).

A lovely idea.

Make out the check to Jammers Of Spanish Extraction, but since that's too long a name to write on the check, you should feel free to use the initials instead.

Likewise, the Filipino Recording Education Drive could use your help, and feel free to use the initials there as well in making out your contribution check.

There's also the umbrella group Charities Assisting Southern Harlem.  Initials work there as well.

(above is almost a Beverly Hillbillies reference, and not really a solicitation for donations :) )

Interesting discussion RE:Charity Donations in lieu of gifts.  I have a couple of EX friends who did that.

We need some action around here - perhaps I'll do the Lambada (The Forbidden Dance).

I haven't seen RHPS since the convention in Long Beach this summer.
First-timers may be Rocky virgins, but I'm Rocky frustrated.

A local theater group will be doing The Rocky Horror Picture Show, later this season.  It'll be the second time this group has done it, and the third time that someone in Olympia has done the original stage show. :)

I signed up at www.bluebeat.com and created my own radio show list.  I don't quite understand exactly what it's all about, but right now, I'm listening to "The Country's In the Very Best of Hands" from one of BK's favorites, the original Broadway cast recording Li'l Abner.

Well... I guess I should have logged out earlier.  Didn't mean to be sitting there like so much fish.

Goodnight.

First part of today's Topic of the Day:

The Brain From Planet X (world premiere cast recording...and previously mentioned)
Une Chambre en Ville (original soundtrack)
Company (NBC)
Curtains (OBC)
"Obligatory Villagers" by Nellie McKay
Wicked (German cast recording)

The rest of my new CDs are at work, but I need to stop there before I head over to my sister's house, so I'll be able to see what I have that's new.

Continuing my Top 10 list (there are more than 10 ;)):

110 in the Shade - new Broadway cast
1967 - Betty Buckley
Blackbeard - the original concept musical (I really like this)
Grey Gardens - original Broadway cast
Simply Sondheim
Taking a Chance on Love - Milla Ilieva

:)

After going to my sister's house, I'm working concessions tonight for David Lanz with Tingstad & Rumbel: Home for the Holidays.  It'll be an evening of music that's new to me.  I've heard of them, but I've never actually heard any of their music.

David Lanz played the first act.  He plays very "new age-y" (meaning repetitive, to me) music.  I'm sure it was very good, but listening to it from the lobby (I never did go into the theater while he was playing) bored me completely.  Sorry, if any of you are fans, but it wasn't what I wanted to listen to for an hour and 20 minutes.

After the intermission was over and concessions was all cleaned up, I watched a bit of Tingstad & Rumbel.  They weren't as "new age-y," but as good as they were, they weren't very exciting, either...at least, what I saw of them.  All the performers were very good musicians, and have been around for a long time, but their music was not what I was interested in. :-\

It wasn't a vast leap, was it?    ;)

Some DR suggested posting pictures of Christmas decorations here on the 24th.  Even though I have to work that day [ ;D ], in preparation I have taken some pictures of the local neighborhood tacky outdoor light displays to share.

Just something for y'all to look forward to!    :P

Perhaps I should "read" a Dr. Seuss story to the board?  Line by line?

THAT would up the posting totals for today!  :D

Frustrating customer service experience [short version] - whenever Amazon uses UPS, it simply works.  Whenever they use DHL, I want to cut my wrists.

Right now, I'm listening to "Oom-Pah-Pah" from the original Broadway cast recording of Oliver.
