My shift was supposed to end almost half an hour ago, and my relief person isn't here yet. I have to go to the bathroom.

Had a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich for lunch - excellent.  No fries, no onion rings, just the sandwich.  I went to the mail place to find that the two errant and truant packges still haven't arrived - both people tell me they were NOT sent media mail, so they'll both be getting a little note later - since one of the items was a Christmas gift, I'm not sure how I'll proceed with that fellow even if he decides he'll send me a like item.

I've spent most of the afternoon compiling my 2007 annual report - thank goodness I keep track of all this in a spreadsheet!  Last year, I spent 122.75 hours in 57 meetings, presented 62.25 hours of programming to a total of 471 people, and engaged in 139 consults (in-person, phone, email) that required 58.5 hours of time.  And on the fifth day, I information-waitressed.

And the word of the day is: JOUNCE!
Which you will find on aisle eightteen, with the rest of the laundry products.

I'm walking with a spring in my step.

Oh, yes.

A spring.
Spring water, aisle nine, on the right.

I'm on the seventh page of today's writing - the chapter will be ending on this page (14), so I may only write another pargraph and leave the very end until the morning, so I start up in the midst of where I left off.  Unless I decide to continue on to the next bit.

Do any other DRs read and catch up on the notes before logging on here?

I think the other DRs that responded missed DR Tomovoz's point.

Yes, I "catch up" reading unread posts without logging in, as I don't want DRs to think I'm sitting there being rude, not responding, when I'm still behind in previous pages.  Once I've caught up with all posts and notes, I log in.

DR FJL - I don't know about the news story, but a few months ago, I lost my car keys in the parking lot of a local Super Stop & Shop.  The person that found them [within a few minutes] would not hand them over to me unless I "rewarded" him with cash first.  I found this very disturbing.  I wouldn't dream of doing this if I found someone's keys.
At least he didn't run off with your car!

(BTW, the Stop & Shop chain is owned by the same company that owns Super G, where I work.)

Hmmm...would that pulling out the cell phone and snapping a picture work in the situation of an actual mugging, I wonder.
No, the mugger would steal the phone.   :P

On a lighter note...

An excerpt from the beginning of the Little Mermaid parody over at Broadway Abridged:
I love the quote at the top of the page:

Quote
"Anything that's good is better shorter."
-- Arthur Laurents

Methinks Mr. Laurents is compensating for something.   :o

Actually, a question for ask Bk (or anyone else) day - Thinking about it in a real mugging situation - Would making the crook think you're sending his photo to your blog in case he does something violent prevent the thief from doing something violent or make it worse?  Obviously, this would only be applicable if one felt the mugger was about to do something violent to you.
I have yet to hear of a non-violent mugger.

People who are willing to threaten violence should always be taken at their word.  Unfortunately.

I checked with the guy in charge of security for our stores a while back, and he told me that, if someone is holding up the store, always go along with the thief.  The well-being of the employees is more valuable to the chain than any amount that could be in the till.

Which, of course, can be abbreviated as FJLtU.

Or, more properly, DR FJLtU.

Exactly how many husbands has Amy Iriving had?  And which one was the best?

I got the soundtrack to a film I'd never even heard of, entitled Bossa Nova, some Bruno Baretto film (the world's worst director and husband of Amy Irving, who stars).  It's a combo platter of old tunes and some new Deodato score tracks - a very pleasant listen.

Featuring vocals by Sergio's longest-serving vocalist, Carol Rogers, who has one of the most incredible techniques you've ever heard.  She teaches in L.A.

Is there a Nanook of the South?
There is indeed a Good Nanook of the South, and a Good Nanook of the North.

The Wicked Nanooks hail from the East and the West.
