I went home for lunch and there were three boxes from Dell! What a pleasant surprise. I bought the computer on Monday and they said the tentative ship date was next Monday, February 4th. I got an e-mail yesterday saying it had shipped and would be delivered today. I wasn't going to believe it until it happened. Well, it happened. I did a cursory check and everything is there that is supposed to be there including speakers, two optical drives, a keyboard, a flat screen monitor with USB ports, a 19 in 1 media card reader and all necessary cables and CD program discs. Since I'm seeing George tonight (not that George, the one who hangs out in the park and paints) I won't set it up until tomorrow. O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

It's been a productive day so far (outside of the work environment but that's another story). I mailed my state taxes and mailed in the form required for e-filers for my federal taxes. I should have my refund in a couple of weeks. And when I pay for the computer I'll still have money left over!

Our new database at work has decided to misbehave. Problems (bugs as they are called in the software design area) are being worked out but it's been a pain in the behind trying to work this morning.

My ASK BK question:

Have you ever finished writing anything so quickly?  That gazelle is doing overtime laps!!

If I do finish next week, this certainly will be the quickest novel - MAHH was the former quickest at eight weeks.  The longest was the first - almost ten months.

Yikes. A very pushy woman from church just called. Luckily, I stayed strong and declined to be involved with the Easter sunrise service next month. She wanted me to write the script, build some kind of cheesy sets out of cardboard, and involve the youth.

I declined because none of those things are my strengths, and a lot of stuff always falls to me at holidays anyway.

Happy news Ben.  Does this mean we will soon have photos of Anthony's latest project?

DearReaderLaura DR, this cardboard stage set may be available for rental.

But I guess it's not very "Eastery."   :-\

Last night we watched an incredible movie, ZWARTBOEK aka BLACKBOOK, co-written & directed by Paul Verhoeven.
From the script, to the direction, to the amazing performances, it was a powerful film.

However, it would have been nice if they had made their plans before the newsletter got printed.

We always meet at someone's house (they have a large-screen tv) and have too many snacks. Those who don't like football play games. It is DR Sandra's second favorite day of the year (after New Year's Eve).

In other news...

I constructed, prepared and consumed my almost-Cubano/Media Noche.  I say "almost" because I did not add the sliced ham - which is traditional.  I figured the roast pork from last night was enough pork for today.

I also got one of the last loaves of Cuban Bread from the bodega up the street.  They get it fresh every morning, and it's usually off the shelves shortly after it's been delivered. I've even seen some customers lying in wait for the delivery guy in order to snatch up as many loaves as possible.  It's good stuff!  And just a $1.00 a loaf.  And since it's a long loaf, I was able to prepare a few more almost-cubanos for later in the week.  Or for delivery.  ;)

Now I understand.  I didn't associate Lent with an Easter sunrise service.  I looked at my calendar, Easter is early :o
