TOD:

A shout-out to the Disney True-Life Adventures which are all splendid animal-based productions. The wizards at Disney back then were able to give these animals personalities that made the nature documentaries more personal and very involving.

I'll be continuing today with FAMILY TIES. With three more discs in the set to get through (and there is a gag reel as a bonus feature somewhere in the set), it's likely these will occupy me for most of the day.

I may take a quick break with a one hour mystery episode from some set or other (MEDIUM, CSI: NY, POIROT), but otherwise, I'll be watching Michael J. Fox et al for the day.

And I'm up and awaiting the arrival of she of the Evil Eye.  How disappointing she won't be able to use the new dishwasher that doesn't work properly.

I was just reading an article about composer Elmer Bernstein. Where do you think he stands in the cannon of Hollywood composers?

The nearest Pita Pit is 115 miles away from me...   :(

Why the unhappy face?  Do you know you are missing something special?

There's one in the West Village.  I haven't given it a try since there are so many non-chain falafel shop options in the area, but I guess I could always go there on a "fishing expedition", so to speak. ;)s

;D  Feel free to do so, though somehow it is difficult to imagine they can match the local ethnic places you eat at.

Personally I think EB is in the Top 5, for me anyway.

Speaking of Top 5, I found the El Cid extra on Miklos Rozsa quite touching and well done.  I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but there's a priceless anecdote from John Mauceri concerning Rozsa and Beethoven.

You're welcome, DR singdaw.  I'm thinking I may head back there again today.  Yes, I know I should have some BBQ while I'm here in town, but, frankly, I'm just not in a BBQ mood.  But that will most likely change tomorrow.  We shall see.  But I'd be more than happy to at least stop back by The Cupboard for a cookbook for you (and myself).

If you do return, please find out if the lemon in the lemon meringue pie is the same as the icebox pie.  I'm curious.

Frozen Grand Station is funny-thanks.

Health and coping vibes to DR ELMORE'S DN.

Larry, I do think there's a way to be sympathic without prying--if, of course, you want to provide a shoulder to cry on or other support. Given all you've been going through you may not wish to do that. But I think there are ways.

She and I are certainly friendly, but I feel letting her know that I'm aware of her wailing would be to inhibit whatever space and freedom she needs to vent.  I am worried about her.
