DR Michael S -  Yesterday you said you wondered where the Echo Valley exchange was...as in Echo Valley 2-6809.  

Well, since Rupert Holmes wrote the song, I asked him.  He told me to tell you that he made it up and he can't remember how he came up with the numbers.  He does know that there was an Echo Park somewhere in California, but that didn't have anything to do with inventing the phone number.

I just spent 3 and 1/2 hours at my mom's house trying to figure out why her new scanner and her new printer did not work with her new computer.

After plugging and unplugging, loading software and unistalling software and loading it again, downloading drivers, etc, etc....well, it turned out mom had not flipped the "on button" on the back of the scanner.

Three and 1/2 hours of my life.

Then we moved onto the printer...I did a little of thisa and a little of thata, then I had a thought...

ME: mom, did you actually try to print anything?

MOM: No, because I thought it was not installed correctly.

I then opened up wordperfect, typed a sentence, hit print. I worked just fine.

I then said good night to my mom and am now home.

On the silver lining side my brother Jeff called while I was at mom's and I got to chat with him. He is currently in Washington D.C and on his way to Afghanistan to inspect some damns.

We had figured that since he was almost killed (one guy was killed) during the ambush of his convoy during his trip to Iraq two years ago that he would not volunteer to go over there for his work ever again...but, looks like we were wrong.

And the last thing I have to say before I hit the hay...I am sure tired of THE OFFICE repeats! I hope they start up with new shows soon as I am going into withdrawls.
