A sad loss for Canada:

•   April 4: Firefighters battle a blaze at one of Quebec City's most historic buildings. Fire broke out at the Quebec City Armory, located just outside the walls of the Old City, at around 9:30 p.m., witnesses said, and caused a major explosion and flames that tore through the site. Most of the building, which was built in 1884, collapsed about two hours later, leaving only a brick wall and two towers at the main entrance standing.
