I had a lengthy phone call, so I didn't get to watch anything for the last half hour leading up to prime time. Argh!

I'm sooo tired - I just have no energy right now. I watched one of those hour-long Hitchcock Presents on Chiller or whatever that station is, but I know if I turn on a movie I shall simply fall asleep. Therefore, I'm in a quandary as to what exactly to do.

Next I watched the season finale of NCIS. Two hours and not the most scintillating episodes in the show's history.

I shed no tears for Lauren Holly who I consider a very poor actress and the real weak link on the show. And, of course, the splitting up of the team will last three or four episodes, and then they'll all be reunited, just as it was two years ago when Gibbs left the team to retire and by episode three, he was back.

AMERICAN IDOL:

I have thought David Cook was the superior performer/singer for at least the last month. But the judges were right tonight. Archuleta outsang him in each round of competition. David A. really sang his heart out tonight. After a very nice opening song, Cook seemed kind of detached for the other two songs.

The results will be interesting. I still think David Cook will have the bigger music career.

I agree with you to a certain point re: most people having made up their minds before tonight. But there are a lot of votes up for grabs (the 3rd place finishers fans). And i really think they threw one guy under the bus tonight.

And i was shocked. Because i thought that he was their favorite until now.
It just really felt like some kind of fix was in. There were so over the top for little david. It just made me sick.

Unless something very time/deadline oriented arrives tomorrow, I plan to have a "fun" day of viewing, watching things I want to see that have been stacking up for weeks.

I know one will be BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD on Blu-ray. The other things I watch will be chosen tomorrow on a whim.

Back to IDOL.

The entire boxing motif of the show was beyond tiresome and really irritating. Glad I had the show on the DVR so I could fast forward past Andrew Lloyd Webber's mutterings.

It did seem like little david was really giving it his all. While DAvid Cook had some problems, and seemed like he did not try everything he could to win (like singing one of his past songs). It just felt like he wanted to go out on his own terms. Sing what he wanted. Some people think he tanked it on purpose so he could make his own album.

I'm not saying Archie did not give a better finale performance (even though i don't care for him at all). I just still think randy and simon totally threw cook under the bus. They could have said they thought little david was better without declaring him the American Idol. I just hate when they favor one person so far over the other in the finale. It makes it seem unfair.

I'm curious if it will make cook's fans vote till they drop.

I also really disliked the boxing part. But I was amused by ALW. HE was funny. Especially when he told little david, "don't close your eyes around me!!!!"

Oh and i hated hated those middle songs (contestant winners).

Well, unless they've changed the rules, both the winner and the runner-up get record contracts for their first album. After that, the company has the option to drop them from the roster or not. Both Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee were dropped after lackluster sales of their initial albums.

Thankfully, they did not. However, they did open the show with the trumpet fanfare from "Rocky". And the two finalists came out in boxing robes. -And we now know that David C. weighs 180, and that David A. weighs in around 100 pounds "soaking wet".

And Katherine McPhee lucked out since she now has David Foster producing her next album.

And Taylor Hicks will be Broadway's newest "Teen Angel" in Grease this summer on Broadway.

I see no point in declaring a winner of each round. It's asinine, really, for Simon to "pronounce" anything. At this stage, the judges should not even be heard from.

That said, I agree with DR MattH that Archuleta was the best in each round...and by a mile in two of them.

I don't agree, necessarily, that Cook's career will be bigger. Archuleta can sing the phone book. Cook seems content in the business section under industrials.

McPhee needs more than luck...she needs someone to dub her who can sing with feeling and on pitch.

Keith and I find far too many holes in the stories that deal with Joe & his business problems.

It's called "plot device"...and/or "suspend disbelief."
