Pleeeeeease be kind!  Dear dear friend Glenn Slater is working on the Phantom sequel, and that - plus Jack O'Brien's presence on the team - certainly promises a fair amount of wit, especially given the Coney island setting.

The last time a Broadway Musical Sequel took place on Coney Island it went into the crapper. Anyone remember the now infamous Annie 2: Miss Hannigan's Revenge?

I think the last successful musical to take place on Coney Island was On the Town and that was over 60 years ago.

Mind you, I am not saying that I wish this to happen, by any means.  But...

Wouldn't it be interesting to see the police report of DR TCB broadsiding himself while trying to take that picture?

I saw Annie 2 twice in its D.C. tryout, and I guess there was a song about Coney Island according to google, but the Coney Island aspect doesn't stick out in my mind as being crucial to the plot.

I had a lovely afternoon with fundraisers at Wright State University, dropped in to see my former boss who works there, and ended my day 2 hours early.  Had my hair cut and went out to dinner with DH Richard.

Of course, Annie 2 rose from the crapper to be resurrected as Annie Warbucks, which had a respectable run (about 200 perfs) off-Broadway, although not a hit.

I stopped at Marie Callender's for a meal and to work on the second act of Nudie.  Our latest cast addition is a corker - Miss Sharon McNight as Eunice; couldn't be happier!  All that's left is Eddie, the backer.  I figured out which ensemble people would read which of the many parts that have to be doubled, so that's done.  But the good thing I got done was removing the camera crane from the Dancing Dildos scene - replacing it with a lot of fun slapstick, just not on the crane.  It was surprisingly easy to do and in certain ways will be even more chaotic, at least for the stage.

Of course, I now have to type in all these changes into the master script and I need to e-mail said script to about four of the participants, who'd like a little time with it so it's not completely cold.  Miss McNight has graciously agreed to learn her song - I have to check the version I recorded and if it's clear enough, I'll send that to her, and then schedule a rehearsal to make sure the key is fine.

Gosh, I just looked back at the day when the topic of BK's notes was "Sharon McNight's Nuts."

So many things I said back in 2006 that I wish I hadn't said.  :)

Has anyone here ever tried any at home teeth whiteners?
If so, which would you recommend using or avoiding?

Good Evening!

-There are about five too many bakeries on the Lower East Side.  Well, at least on First Avenue between 9th and 14th Streets.

Hmm.. I believe one of the NYC TV stations just did a feature on home teeth-whitening systems.  Lemme see if I can come up with anything.

Otherwise... I've never tried any of them.  However, I know a lot of people who like the Crest White Strips.

INCLINED TO BE KIND - that's the title of something, isn't it?  At least it should be.  :)

Ah, yes.  It was a song cut from Hair.  It was eventually replaced by "East To Be Hard".

I guess Nell Carter played Miss Hannigan in the revival of ANNIE, I thought it was the squel.

In other news...

Another good coaching, and I'm hoping my friend does well tomorrow at her audition.  Like all actors, she has a tendency to get a little too into her head at times - which is complicated by her Yale schooling.  ;)  The songs sit very well in her voice.  All she really has to work on is getting the lyrics in the right order.

Yes, she played Miss Hannigan in one of the many revivals of Annie.  However, if I recall, the Nell Carter revival also featured a new song for Miss Hannigan which was written for Ms. Carter.

-And I'm guessing that song and others will be included on the forthcoming 30th Anniversary recording of the show.

After leaving the Lower East Side with baked goods in tow, I headed over to Chelsea to meet up with my friend, Carl, for dinner.  We ended up supping at the Hollywood Diner, which, I believe, is just down the stairs from DR Ben's abode.  After dinner, he headed on up to the Cort to see The 39 Steps, and I headed on home.

Whew!
