SPEEDING THROUGH TIME

Well, you've read the notes, the notes flew by, like a gazelle eating lentil soup, and now it is time for you to post until the speeding cows come home.

I've been listening to the wonderful Grant Geissman Nudie Musical instrumentals done for the documentary on the DVD.  A couple of them actually gave me some ideas about arrangements for the show, and possibly new settings for a couple of non-descript throwaways like Orgasm.  I've never thought about doing that number any other way, but it's really only a twenty-five-second song, so I'm going to look at that.

I forgot Guy Haines makes an appearance on Grant's version of I Don't Have To Hide Anymore.  Have I ever told the story of who I wrote that song for?  It wasn't written for Nudie at all, it was written a year prior.

The Twenty-Five Second Orgasm

A very popular self-help book, published in the late '70s, by Emalia Twitch.

I'll leave it to your imaginations as to what she titled the sequel.

GRANDEE Patinkin ENRAGED viewers of his television series Criminal Brains, simply because he'd decided he was too important a person to appear on the tiny screen any more.  The writers of the show finally explained his character's departure by saying he had sat on a GRENADE (an event that, thankfully, took place off-camera).

TOD:

Currently reading Build a Better Burger, by James McNair.  It's the freebie I got on the latest order from Jessica's Biscuit.

And, yes, I know that a lot of what is in the book can also be found over at the Sutter Home website.  But let's face it, there's something about holding an actual book in your hands that is mighty appealing.  And the book has more pretty pictures, some of which cry out to be licked.  (That's why they call it food porn, kids.)

And, because DR Matt will probably forget -

Tonight, on the SciFi Channel:

At 8:00, Sarah Jane must find out who these people are, who claim that her adopted son Luke is their own, on The Sarah Jane Adventure: The Lost Boy.

And, at 9:00, The Doctor, Donna and Martha must save the world from the Sontarans, in Doctor Who: The Poison Sky.

(And then, at 10:00, there's another episonde of Battlestar Galactica, but I don't bother with watching that show.)

Friday at last.  Except that it is a work day.  But it will probably rain, with the storms coming in from CILLA LIZ land and headed for GINNY LAND.

I watched a bit of SHADOW ON THE WINDOW when it was on the other morning.  They certainly had Betty Garrett glammed up, but I didn't believe it for a second when her character claimed to be 27 years old.

I thought Corey Allen as a blond was very handsome.  And John Drew Barrymore was very intense.  The other hoodlum was played by an actor named Gerald Sarracini, and he was pretty good.  I didn't remember the name or the face, so I looked him up on the IMDB....

Shockingly - later in 1957, the year WINDOW was released, he was playing the young Romanoff character on Broadway in Peter Ustinov's Romanov And Juliet, after the Christmas Eve performance, he and a friend were walking home and were attacked by a gang of thieves.  He died as a result of the beating on December 27, 1957.

Good morning, all! In two hours I meet our DR Jose at the 84th Street movie for SEX & THE CITY. The 10 am performance is sold out, and I went over to the theatre last night and picked up my ticket. I look forward to seeing the movie and even more to seeing DR Jose, whom I've not seren since his trek to LA.

After the movie, I must hie myself back here for more Brain surgery, but we may do lunch first.

TOD:
DVD: new operas from tHe House of Opera, several Netflix items
CD: SOUTH PACIFIC (new cast recording), THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X, PRIMROSE (Library of Congress), Le Nozze di Figaro (Giulini/Schwartzkopf)
  VCR: several anthropological studies

The safety and security of loved ones becomes a key concern this evening during the monthly Moon-Vesta alliance in Aries (8:20PM PDT). A sisterhood or fellowship gathering can thrive under this wisdom-producing lunar alignment. You can also receive insights regarding your investment portfolio. Students, scholars and researchers benefit greatly in the later hours as the Moon makes a supportive, 60-degree link to Mercury (exact at 12:09AM PDT on Saturday).

Hello From Montreal.

Nothing scheduled on any media front, but might take my nephew to a movie.

You miss one day on the internet because of traveling and you miss so much.

In case it wasn't mentioned, but Harvey Korman passed away. We are losing more and more (due to age) of our great performers. I think the actors of today who come and go so quickly now won't have the same impact when they pass on.

I will miss Korman's comedic talents. He made me laugh and that was so important. That is his legacy.

Yes, DR MICHAELS - Harvey Korman was a fine comic actor, and a great foil for Burnett.

I won't be seeing Sex and the City tonight. All evening performances (at least at Chelsea Cinemas) are sold out and I don't want to see the movie at 2am or 9am (I do have to work ya know). We will aim for tomorrow or Sunday. My friend is supposed to pick up tickets but he's not an early riser like me so I can't call yet and tell him which viewings still have tickets. I know I can buy the tickets on line but at $12 a ticket I WILL NOT pay a fee for the privilege of purchasing the tickets over the Internet. It's the same reason I won't buy tickets from TicketMaster or Telecharge.

Catching up from yesterday #1

I am so proud of myself I made it through season 4 of lost not seeing one episode or reading one spoiler. I now cannot wait for the DVD/Blu Ray to come out later this year. For me that is the only way to watch them.

Catching up from yesterday #2

Way too hard to have a favorite painting. I grew up in house filled with art. We started with native Canadian and then when my mother opened her art gallery the house became a museum itself.

Do you have any more information about the This Is Is The Life programs that you did? They are not part of the brucekimmel.com or at imdb.com. Corey Allen does have these shows listed at imdb.com either.
