Harrumph!  You didn't ask for MY phone number!    ;)

Would you have given it?  Considering the list I am still waiting for you to fill, don't expect a call any time soon.

Actually, I think MBarnum and I would be willing to buy out the house.

I'll take a piece of that action!

In other news...

After some Kumamotos and Malepeques at the Oyster Bar (SLURP!  YUM!), I then wandered up Madison Ave.

No Quilcene?

Hmm... I think not.

However, I do have a recipe for a Chocolate-Espresso Coffee Cake which is quite caffeinated.

That sounds good.

No Quilcene?

I actually didn't see Quilcenes listed on today's board.

Killer Chocolate Pie
(from the Reedy River Baptist Church Cookbook, June 1987)
Recipe of Mrs. Ruth B. Stepp

3 egg yolks
2 cups of sugar (I use 1 1/2)
5 large tbsps. of Hershey's Cocoa (or other brand)
4 tbsps. of corn starch
1 stick of butter/margarine (melted)
1 large (12 oz.) can of Evaporated Milk, plus an additional 1/2 cup of water.
2 tbsps of vanilla extract
1 large pie shell (bake to manufacturer's or recipe specifications)

Beat egg yolks with evaporated milk (plus the water).  Add extract and melted butter.  Mix with all dry ingredients.  Cook in a double boiler until thick (i.e, over boiling water!  If you don't have a double boiler, STIR the mixture constantly until it gets thick.  Don't let it stick to pan or burn).  Pour into baked pie shell.

Meringue:  Beat egg whites until they stand in a soft peak.  Add 2 tbsps. of sugar and beat whites until they form stiff peaks.  Put on top of pie.  Make sure you seal the edges of meringue to crust.  Brown meringue in your oven (I use broiler setting but use baking mode, too, to cook the meringue a bit longer than it takes under a broiler.)

I use less sugar than the recipe calls for because this pie is wicked rich!  If you like a bit of "bittersweet" every now and again, 1 cup of sugar will probably be perfect.

This recipe makes the best chocolate pie that has ever passed my lips.  And that's a LOT of chocolate pies!

Oh dear. I am officially old. I am trying to figure out this Ipod and it's not happening. I think I loaded "Evening Primrose," but nothing happened when I tried to listen to it.

Maybe it needs to charge up for a while.

Which kind of iPod did you get?  The shuffle? The nano? Or The Classic?

*And, yes, regardless of which iPod you bought, you should fully charge it before it's first use.

**And did you see that "Evening Primrose" imported into iTunes?  Can you play "EP" from your computer/iTunes?

DR RonP i have a question about your recipe (which i would like to try).

It doesn't say how many egg whites to use.

You mention 3 egg yolks for teh main part of the pie.

Is it simply the remaining 3 whites for the meringue?

Btw, i was watching some of the episodes of Scott Baio 45 and single. And sheila from BIG BROTHER was on it. She was exactly the same!

She used to date him. She was only on for a few minutes. But she was so funny. She came out of the gym and would barely talk to him. She had to go pick up her son at school!

However, I am pleased to report that I am not so elderly that any of the able-bodied young men felt the need to offer me a seat on the bus today.

Did you put the Power Switch in the "ON" Position?

Is the Power Indicator Light "GREEN"?

Do you have the Shuffle Switch in "Shuffle" or "In Order" Play?

Did you put the earphones in your ear?

;)

I'd charge it over night. It may just be telling you it's low on batteries. I don't have a shuffle though so I don't really know.

If I hadn't had to totally destroy the package to get it out, I would be returning this thing tomorrow.

I brought work home but then read my horoscope that said "Don't work today" Oh!  Ok.   The weather radio woke me up so many times in the night that when my alarm went off I decided to sleep in a couple more hours and go in late. When I came home I reprogrammed the radio so it will only wake me up when the storm is in my county.  I should sleep more now,
